We are coming up on our 10 year Wedding Anniversary this December…here is our proposal story! The art runs deep with us 💕

Brandon and I had been dating for about 10 months…but first let’s back up…
We worked together as servers at Olive Garden in Jensen Beach, FL for about 1.5 years…he liked me a lot and in the beginning I just let him chase hard after me and work for it.
I knew that I liked him…and when I finally told him this…I guess I didn’t really tell him ,we were saying good night at ours cars and I said Soooo are you going to kiss me? He was so shocked 😂 he said when I kiss you it will be the RIGHT way. He was the most respectful guy I had ever met.
I was moving in 3 weeks to Orlando to begin my art career at college. This knight in shining armor dropped everything he was doing and followed me with a move to Orlando that same month. He wasn’t about to let me go. We had fallen head over heels for each other!
He has been with me in my art career from the very beginning. Once settled in Orlando, he officially asked me to date him by surprising me with an early morning hot air balloon ride. 😭❤️ keep swiping to read ➡️

Fast forward to 10 months later the day before he proposed, he told me he was taking me somewhere the next morning and he began looking through my dresses and asked what I was going to wear 😆 I immediately knew that he was going to propose that day! Such a good guy making sure I wore something I would feel pretty in for it though! When he left my apartment I immediately began painting my nails so that I made sure they would look beautiful 😂

We showed up at the Orlando Museum of Art and I was so excited. I had NO idea it would be here and even still thought it would be somewhere else after we looked at art.

As we were walking through the museum I wanted to take photos but there were signs all over saying “no photos”…and then I saw a photographer walking around with a huge camera and I pointed it out to Brandon and said hey he has a camera! Little did I know that was the photographer that he HIRED to photograph the proposal! 😆😂

He led me through the museum (I thought we were just walking but he was taking me to a certain place) and

Five years.

Five years without picking up a canvas.
Five years without really creating.

After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art, life moved quickly. We welcomed our three babies, built a family, and I poured so much of myself into my other business creating magical experiences for families through face painting and entertainment.

But there was always a part of me that missed creating. It always felt like a hole in my chest.

I had always known about live painting, but live guest portraits and live event painting felt like this whole other world that I didn’t know how to step into.

I had the skills.
I had the training.
I knew how to paint.

But I was scared.

One day I told a friend who was already live painting that I wished I could do it too.

Her response was simple:
“If you want it, just do it.”

I had every excuse ready… being a mom, being busy, having another business.

But she reminded me that sometimes you just have to start.

So I went home, pulled out my paints, and started again.

And that one decision changed everything.

Now, almost two years into Kait Paints Live, I get to combine everything I love - art, people, storytelling, and creating memories that last.

There have been challenges, learning curves, and moments of doubt… but I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

So thankful for the people who encouraged me to pick up the brush again. 🤍
