The Third Day;

On the third day of creation, God created the dry ground, seas, plants, and trees (Genesis 1:9–13). Using the foundation He created on the first day of creation, the Lord began to form the earth into a place suitable for life. Life as we can recognize it began on day three, "and God saw that it was good". Sentinel (sen·ti·nel ) To watch over - a soldier, guard, or something whose job is to stand and keep watch.

“I capture the language of light - turning dawn, storm, and shoreline into spiritual messages of hope. My photography reveals the strength hidden inside struggle, the beauty rising from darkness, and the sacred presence woven into nature’s quiet places. Through images and poetry, I help people see what their soul has been whispering all along: that no matter the storm, the sun still rises—for them.”

"SOUTH FLORIDA’S DARK MANIFESTATIONS"
(Halloween Edition)
Short Video Coming Tuesday, October 27 🎃

Most days, my camera searches for the beauty, peace, and quiet meaning tucked into familiar places. But once a year, Halloween gives me a reason to step outside that box - and let something a little eerie step into the frame.

This year, I’ve taken some of my own photographs from Vero Beach to Jupiter, Florida and brought them to life in a very different way. Familiar scenery becomes the setting for unexpected visitors, unsettling encounters, and a few things you certainly won’t find in the tourism brochure.

Through photography, animation, and a little seasonal imagination, this Halloween special brings the monsters into our own backyard.

But beneath the scares is a message close to my heart. Darkness can take many forms - fear, doubt, temptation, despair - and its appearance doesn’t mean it gets the final word. My hope is that you’ll enjoy the imagination, feel a few chills, and stay through the ending for a reminder of the authority we have through Christ to overcome the darkness.

Join me Tuesday evening, as Third Day Sentinel Photography takes a brief walk into the eerie shadows - with a purpose waiting in the light.

“Laminated Horizons”
One moment near, beneath the morning glow,
The next, already farther out they go.
What felt so close, as though it might remain,
Can drift beyond our reach like passing rain.
We watch the distance slowly claim the view,
Still holding memories of what once we knew.
And sometimes hearts keep staring toward the sea,
For something gone from where it used to be.
Yet leaving does not lessen what was there,
Nor steal the love, the joy, the moments shared.
Some things may sail beyond our watching eyes,
Yet leave their light reflected in our lives.
For every setting sun still meets a dawn,
And hope remains when something cherished moves on.
Though empty waters stretch where once it stayed,
The light still finds the path that loss has made.
Perhaps our faith is strongest when we find,
We cannot keep each treasured thing behind.
But trust that even when we must release,
God walks beside the ache and brings us peace.
So when something beautiful slips from your view,
And yesterday feels closer still than new,
Look toward the light beyond that distant sea -
For endings may hold beginnings yet to be.
Closing reflection:
Some of life's most beautiful gifts are not ours to hold forever. People, places, seasons, dreams - even familiar ways of life - can suddenly become distant. Yet what departs our sight does not erase what it gave us. Sometimes hope begins by trusting that beyond what we can see, God is still writing - and the horizon is not always an ending.
Scripture:
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
- Psalm 30:5 (KJV)

"The Long Walk Forward"
The pathway stretches farther than it seemed,
Beyond the place where distant vessels gleamed.
And step by step, the journey may feel long,
While weary feet still search for strength to carry on.
We often see the harbor, not the miles,
And dream of destinations, not the trials.
We make our plans and picture where they’ll end,
Yet rarely know the roads around the bend.
Some days we walk and wonder what has changed,
The goal still far, the future unarranged.
But progress isn’t always ours to see;
A step still moves us where we’re meant to be.
Perhaps the distance teaches us to trust,
To walk when hope feels weary in the dust.
For every step need not reveal the plan;
Sometimes faith is simply - walk again.
The vessels wait beyond the lengthy pier,
Though from the shore they may seem nowhere near.
And what awaits beyond our present view,
May only be reached by seeing the journey through.
So when the road seems longer than you knew,
And little seems to change with all you do,
Keep walking - though the ending stays unknown;
The One who guides your steps has seen where they have flown.
Closing reflection:
We often measure progress by how close the destination appears. Yet some of our most important steps may feel like the smallest ones. When the journey grows long, faith reminds us that we don't need to see the entire path - we only need enough courage for the next step.
Scripture:
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”
- Proverbs 16:9 (KJV)

"Where Small Things Travel Far"
A quiet ripple journeys from the shore,
Then reaches waters it has never known before.
One gentle wave may seem too small to see,
Yet travels farther than we thought could be.
.
And so it is with every word we share,
A simple kindness, moment spent in care.
What starts within the smallest act we do,
May touch another heart and travel through.
.
The morning sun sends light across the bay,
While ripples carry yesterday away.
And overhead, the birds upon their flight,
May never know whose wings inspired their height.
.
Perhaps our lives are pebbles in His hand,
With purposes we may not understand.
One act of grace, one seed of hope we sow,
Can reach a distant shore we'll never know.
We may not see where every ripple ends,
Or how one life through countless others bends.
But goodness given freely from the heart,
May simply be where greater things can start.
So cast some kindness gently on the tide,
And trust its reach beyond what eyes provide.
For even when its circles leave our view,
The smallest wave may still be passing through.
Closing reflection:
We rarely get to see the full reach of what we put into the world. Like a ripple moving across still water, one encouraging word, one kindness, or one faithful act may travel far beyond us - touching shores we may never see.
Scripture:
“Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
- Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

"Through the Shadow of the Storm"
The darkness gathered far across the sea,
While thunder spoke of what was yet to be.
The lightning carved its warning through the night,
Yet still they stood - unshaken by the sight.
.
Some stayed their ground while others ventured near,
As though the storm had failed to summon fear.
They faced the clouds that swallowed up the blue,
And somehow trusted they would make it through.
.
Perhaps that’s faith - not knowing storms will cease,
But finding in their shadow something close to peace.
Not faith that says the thunder won’t appear,
But faith that whispers, “Still, I will not fear.”
For valleys come where light is hard to see,
And winds may shake the strongest standing tree.
Yet courage isn’t born from cloudless skies;
Sometimes it wakes when darkest storms arise.
The path ahead may disappear from view,
The heavens flash, the restless waters brew.
Still faith can take another step ahead,
Where fear once begged our weary feet to dread.
So when the distant storm becomes your own,
And suddenly you feel you walk alone,
Remember shadows only come through light -
And even there, you’re held within His sight.
Closing reflection:
Faith does not promise we will never face the storm. Sometimes it simply gives us courage to keep walking when everything ahead tells us to turn around. The shadow may surround us - but it never means we walk through it alone.
Scripture:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” - Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

"Branches of Uncertainty"
You held your ground, uncertain what to do,
Though something good was being offered to you.
You edged in close, then thought it best to flee,
Still watching from the shelter of the tree.
How much like us, when grace is drawing near,
We want to trust, yet hesitate through fear.
We see the gift, but question what may be,
And cling to branches of uncertainty.
Perhaps we've learned that trust can leave a scar,
So even kindness feels a step too far.
We ask for signs, then doubt what we receive,
As though His goodness were too good to believe.
Yet God remains - He doesn't force our hand,
But waits with patience we may understand.
No hurried chase, no anger when we hide,
Just grace still offered from the other side.
And like that squirrel, inching down the tree,
Perhaps our faith begins uncertainly.
One little step may finally help us see -
The Gift was never bait...but meant to set us free.
Closing Reflection:
Sometimes what keeps us from receiving something good isn't its absence, but our uncertainty about the One offering it. Faith may not begin with fearless confidence. Sometimes it begins by moving one small step closer - and discovering that God was patient with our hesitation all along.

Scripture:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
- Psalm 34:8

"One Morning, Two Speeds"
I came to watch the morning find its way,
To breathe before the rush consumed the day.
The ocean whispered, “There is time to be,”
While dawn lay softly sleeping on the sea.
Then through the stillness came a sudden roar,
A lonely boat went racing past the shore.
As though somewhere beyond that distant blue,
A waiting clock said, “Hurry - you’re overdue.”
I had come here to let the moments slow,
While he seemed certain there was somewhere else to go.
One heart content to watch the new day bloom,
One cutting through the quiet, chasing room.
And yet I wondered, watching from the sand,
Perhaps we each are following some unseen plan.
For what seems hurried through another person's eyes,
May be a calling pulling someone toward the skies.
There are seasons meant for running with the tide,
And seasons when we're called to simply step aside.
Perhaps the wisdom isn't choosing fast or slow,
But knowing when it's time to stay - or go.
For even Christ withdrew from crowds to pray,
Yet walked with purpose when He went His way.
So maybe life is neither race nor rest alone,
But learning which direction we are being shown.
The boat soon disappeared beyond my view,
And once again the morning silence grew.
I stayed to watch the waiting heavens glow -
He raced toward something only he could know.

Closing reflection:
Life rarely moves at one universal speed. While one person is learning to slow down and notice what surrounds them, another may be answering a reason to move. Perhaps peace isn't found simply in stopping - or in rushing - but in recognizing which season we're in, and trusting that we don't all have to travel at the same pace.
Scripture:
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
- Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

"The View Beyond Our View"
From ground below, we see the trees stand tall,
A quiet pond, green reeds - that may seem all.
But rise above, and suddenly we see
How vast the threads of living life can be.
The water winds where hidden creatures roam,
While roots and branches shelter countless homes.
The insects hum, the fish beneath us glide,
And unseen life moves gently side by side.
No single tree exists here on its own,
No blade of grass was simply placed alone.
Each life contributes something to the whole,
As though creation breathes with one great soul.
And from above, a thought begins to grow:
How little of this world we truly know.
For what seems small when standing on the ground,
Becomes a living tapestry unbound.
And if these heights can change what we perceive,
What greater view lies far beyond belief?
If we can rise and marvel from the sky,
Imagine what the Maker sees on high.
Perhaps He sees each creature, great and small,
The hidden purpose woven through it all.
The life beneath the leaf, the wing, the tree -
And every thread our earthly eyes can't see.
So when I look upon this world below,
I'm humbled by how much I do not know.
One photograph can barely hold the view -
Yet somehow whispers, “There is more than you.”
Closing reflection:
Sometimes changing our perspective doesn't change what is there - it reveals what was there all along. From above, what appeared to be simply water and trees becomes a community of life, quietly interconnected. And perhaps that offers the faintest glimpse of how differently creation might appear through the eyes of its Creator.
Scripture:
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” - Psalm 24:1
