Sunset at the Port St. Joe Arch is completed. We will be adding plexiglass table tops on top of the art to protect it. Took a little artistic license with this removing telephone poles, parking spaces, wires, etc. to make the painting more interesting.

On to number #3 local hotspot - the gazebo on St Joe Bay. Taking a bit of a break before starting it to work on a few portrait commissions in oil but will be back on it soon.

Good Morning from BellaSOL Gallery Studio on SJP. 🎨

Today is detail day and I am nearing the completion of this painting. Building layers for texture with flat latex has been the challenge & not being able to go as dark on shadows as I would normally. This is my daily inspiration - looking out over the state park from my painting perch, listening to calming dog tunes with Luna. Hope everyone has a beautiful day! 🌞

Welcome all NEW followers 🎨 to BellaSOL Gallery! I will be posting updates on the upcoming commissioned paintings (4) for the bench tabletops at The Joe Center for the Arts.

This project has been in the works for months. During this time, I have scouted locations & researched the best materials for the tabletops given our environment.

This picture was chosen for the 1st painting. As we wait for the project to become fully funded (almost there), I purchased the special paint for our AZEK surface.

Craig Matthews has already generously acquired to AZEK board and cut it to fit the planter boxes on the benches. These will be our tabletops.

The paint chosen is Sherwin Williams Resilience (now called Latitude). It is recommended for painting on AZEK, which is similar to Trex (but about 3x the cost). It holds up super well in extreme shifts in temperature. It can easily be cut to size, so it checked all of our boxes.

I have worked with this material before and actually spoke to AZEK corporate when I first started using this material many years ago. Our local Sherwin-Williams store was super helpful as we brainstormed about LRVs (light reflective value). All of the paints selected are an LRV of 55 or greater (whites & lighter colorful shades). This is what is recommended for this surface by AZEK. No dark paints can be used, so I selected a color scheme for all 4 paintings based on LRVs.

Very sad 😢 to hear that Tiberius (Tibby) has crossed the 🌈 bridge. So sad for Sandy Schroeder McSemek and Dave for the loss of their sweet boy. I was so honored to paint him and the rest of their dog family (past and living) two years ago. I got to meet their three babies at their SGI home before I painted them to get a sense of their personalities. I saw them again when I delivered the painting. What a special day. He was such a sweet boy, a gentle giant. BIG hugs to the McSemeks.

🔥 HOT off the easel, this 8 x 10 “Barred Owl” has been in my project folder for some time. We are fortunate to live in an area full of wildlife, so I see and hear them often, especially at dawn & dust. They are beautiful creatures. My college mascot was a fighting owl 🦉 so this one is for you, KSU!

Cape Calm is a NEW beach house sign for a home on the North Cape. Thanks, Haylea, for the commission. Float away on the clouds of this 48 x 12 sign featuring a breezy umbrella ⛱️ The color scheme we picked is so beachy but didn’t quite work until I added lemonade. The yellow tone really worked with the purples in the cobalt sky & the corals with the blues in the umbrella. 🎨
