I frequently paint using photo references. Sometimes, these are given to me by clients, as is the case on the right-sided paintings. Other times, I find the photos. I had the photo of the owl in my projects folder for some time before I had the time to paint it. The diving sea turtle photo took me a year to find. I can really go down a rabbit hole looking for photos. It’s important not to copy a photo as an artist but to paint it as you interpret it. I will especially change things up when a filter is used. I wanted to sea turtle to appear he was diving to deeper darker water. All of these paintings were new challenges and stretched my color mixing skills, finding shadow and enhancing light. The two on the right were commissions while the two on the left were my choice. I had coffee mugs and magnets made out of the sea turtle painting. All are oil on canvas. 3 are SOLD.

The owl original is still available and I have prints of the owl and the sea turtle.

Such great news! BellaSOL Gallery will stay with Goin’ Coastal and we are moving to WindMark and NOT closing!! Once we are out of our current building, we will move to the new space.

“Sailing Away on a Sunset” is my newest acrylic painting for downtown Port St Joe. This is #3 of 4 paintings for the bench tops in front of The Joe Center for the Arts.

I love how the muted tones wash the gazebo on St Joe Bay with color. 🎨. Stay tuned for the last painting, a beach scene on Cape San Blas. ⛱️☀️🐚🏝️

“In the Quiet” you see all of the beauty of God’s hand. This 8x8 portrait of a mother and her children reminds you to enjoy those precious moments when the world stops for a minute. So much rich color in layer after layer of this painting required a lot of drying time in between layers. This was painted from a photograph.

Word travels fast in a small town. Many of you have heard that the landlord is not renewing the lease for Goin’ Coastal, and therefore, everyone’s favorite shop and every vendor in it including BellaSol Gallery will close our doors on October 31st. I am heartbroken 💔 as I dearly love this little shop and the people in it. While the gallery is closing, I will continue to be available for commissions. THANK YOU for your support these last 6 1/2 years!! 🎨

I will be having a BIG sale throughout this month on everything. Items will be marked with discounts. Come by and start your Christmas shopping early! 🎁

Do you have children/grandchildren? Wouldn’t you love a painting of them on the beach? 🏖️

“Diamonds on the Water” an oil portrait with coastal landscape on 8x8 gallery wrap canvas is completed. I feel honored to have been chosen by Coralee to paint her beautiful children (now teenagers) and am painting a companion portrait to this one - now in progress.

I really love combining our stunning Forgotten Coastal landscapes with portrait work and painting these two diamonds was an honor that I would only trust to Michael Harding oils. 🎨

Bench ART 🎨 is installed for the first bench. Brian Kilgore did an amazing job with the plexiglass to protect the art and love how he framed the art in black to make those lighter color pop!
