🔥 HOT off the easel, this 8 x 10 “Barred Owl” has been in my project folder for some time. We are fortunate to live in an area full of wildlife, so I see and hear them often, especially at dawn & dust. They are beautiful creatures. My college mascot was a fighting owl 🦉 so this one is for you, KSU!

Cape Calm is a NEW beach house sign for a home on the North Cape. Thanks, Haylea, for the commission. Float away on the clouds of this 48 x 12 sign featuring a breezy umbrella ⛱️ The color scheme we picked is so beachy but didn’t quite work until I added lemonade. The yellow tone really worked with the purples in the cobalt sky & the corals with the blues in the umbrella. 🎨

“Going with the Flow” an acrylic painting on wood panel (18x42) using modeling paste for wave look in blue gray and aqua background and crinkled paper and plastic bags to rub paint off in spots to mimic water. The texture of the background also lends texture to the Golden painted coral with its vibrant reds, coral & oranges. This statement piece was commissioned to cover an electrical box at the end of a hallway. Thanks, Monica, for trusting me with this special painting. This one is headed for Mexico Beach. 🏖️ 🪸

Sea ‘N Stars is a 48 x 12 commissioned beach house sign for one of my North Cape collectors. Thanks, Elizabeth, for supporting my art through the years. She wanted to upgrade to a stronger material that withstands the beach elements better than wood. We went with aquas, blues, cream & gray, which offsets the white letters outlined in blue and makes them pop.

“Econfina Blues” is a 11 x 14 acrylic painting on gallery wrap canvas. I delivered it to Panama City today along with another oil painting. Thanks so much for the commission Coralee! This area is very special to her family, so she wanted a directional sign painting with the springs as a backdrop. I love the teals, blues and aquas of the water. These colors offset nicely with a peachy orange imprimatura (underpainting) to enhance the light in the painting. The sky seems to glow.

That’s a wrap on THE REEF 23 🪸 beach house sign. This 60” x 16” is an artistic rendering of the client’s logo. It’s headed to its new home in Mexico Beach after passing by the varnish table. Thanks, Monica, for the commission. Looking forward to creating your large coral statement painting soon.

Painted with Nancy Nowak at the Cape San Blas Lighthouse, Port St. Joe, on Friday and with Betty Wentworth in Apalachicola on Thursday. Paintings were not quite finished but we had a good time. Love when Forgotten Coast en Plein Air comes to town and I get to add to my bag of tricks. 🎨
