Inspired by a recent sermon from Pastor Kerry Fitts, I’ve been working on a new original composition: "Potter’s Wheel." The title comes from the the book of Jeremiah Chapter 18.
I wanted to capture a specific mood with this one—blending the sophisticated, rich harmonic landscape of a classic jazz standard with the raw, emotional power and melisma of Rhythm and Blues. It’s a song about the process of refining, surrender, and being shaped by the hands of the Creator.
Recording this in the studio brought a whole new level of meaning to the lyrics. There is something truly powerful about taking a timeless biblical truth and finding the right musical language to express it.

"Hey Mister Jesus" — a brand new blues track, written and performed right here at Dreamlab Recording Studio. 🎶

This is just a teaser of what’s in the works. I am really hoping to make this a collaborative effort with my dear friend, Paul Baldwin. I envision my high, melismatic vocals paired with Paul’s smokey tone and his signature, stinging lead guitar riffs. It’s all about finding that perfect blend of "grit and grease."

We have a packed house and a lot of incredible music coming together over the next few days.

10:00 AM: David Dexter is dropping in to finish up some tracking before he and Diane head back north to New York. We’ll be hard at work on his music today and tomorrow before they take off this Saturday!
2:00 PM: Dave and Tracy Bickford are coming through to start tracking some brand-new music and tie up a few loose ends on their ongoing projects.

"Let That Devil Go" was originally written and recorded by The Rev. John Lee Ho**er Jr., son of the iconic blues legend John Lee Ho**er.

In this compelling cover version, Paul Baldwin takes the lead on both vocals and guitar. He is expertly supported by Michael Chauncey, who provides the full rhythmic and melodic foundation on drums, bass, horns, organ, and backing vocals.

A Full Heart and a Full Studio Today! 🎸📖
​Today was one of those "sunup to sundown" days that reminds me just how blessed I am.
​We kicked things off this morning at Oasis Coffee Spot for our Tuesday Bible study, continuing our verse-by-verse journey through Genesis. There’s nothing like starting the day in the Word with good company. After a great lunch with Mom at Golden Corral, it was straight into the studio for a busy afternoon at Dreamlab.
​Today's Studio Highlights:
​Bill Stevens stopped by to work on his song, "Holy Spirit." We added a brand-new verse and finished up a fresh remix. It’s sounding powerful!
​We had a special visit from two talented young ladies, Ariella and Joella. They brought in an original Christian gospel song, and the whole family got involved! Their dad jumped on the Cajon, their older brother on the congas, and I had a blast engineering, producing, and laying down some electric guitar and bass tracks.
​Paul Baldwin was also in the house to get a fresh remix on his track, "You Got to Let That Devil Go."
​Wrapped up the evening with our 7:00 PM Bible study after church, and it was the perfect "welcome home" to find my daughter Renee here helping Joy with things around the house.
​Tired, but so grateful for the music, the fellowship, and the family. God is good! 🙌✨
