For AOD Senior, Mary Branigan, dancing the role of Odette feels like a full-circle moment. As a little girl, Mary was obsessed with the Barbie of Swan Lake movie and Swan Lake was her first spring ballet performance at Academy of Dance in 2014. She remembers watching the older girls from backstage and being so inspired by them, so it is an especially rewarding experience to be a dancer that the younger dancers look up to now. Mary loves the technical demands of the Odette variation and the Pas de Deux, as well as the rich storyline and the chance to bring Odette’s character and emotions to life through dance.
Come watch Mary perform the role of Odette this Saturday, June 20 at 5:00 and Sunday, June 21 at 1:00 🩰🦢
