Happy Wednesday! We're thrilled to share our first Homeschool Teen Hangout is happening next Tuesday!

Here's what to expect:
Homeschool Teen Hangout

Come hang out, make stuff, play games, try something new, or just enjoy being around other teens without a lot of pressure to socialize.

Our Homeschool Teen Hangout is a relaxed, welcoming space where teens can connect at their own pace. We’ll have a mix of activities available, including process art, science, sensory activities, theatre games, board games, creative challenges, and more.

There’s no pressure to participate in everything. Teens can jump into an activity, bring something they’re working on, talk about their latest obsession, play a game, or simply find a comfortable spot to hang out.

Optional colored badges will be available to make communicating a little easier:

Info dumps welcome! Tell me about the thing you love.

Orange — I want to info dump!
Ask me about my interests. I have THINGS to say.

Blue — Both!
I’m up for listening, sharing, and swapping enthusiasm.

At The Process, you don’t have to be good at small talk, know anyone when you arrive, or participate in a particular way to belong. Come make something. Play something. Experiment. Info dump. Listen. Laugh. Or just hang out.

Party at The Process!

Are you celebrating something? Maybe it's meeting a behavioral goal, turning double digits, promoting to a new grade/program, or tying shoes for the first time. No matter what you're celebrating, we'd love to host a party for you! Here's some information about how we can help you make a BIG deal for your human:

Celebrations at The Process are a little different. No rigid schedules and absolutely no expectations of perfection. Just three glorious hours to explore, experiment, create, celebrate, and make a mess!

Your private party includes:
-Three hours of private access to The Process
-Up to 15 humans (adults and children combined)
-Hands-on art, science, engineering, and sensory experiences
-A personalized celebration sign
-Staff available to help you make a mess!

Party Price: $225

A $50 reservation payment secures your previously confirmed date and goes toward your total. The remaining $175 can be paid online or in cash when you arrive.

Additional participating guests are $10 each, with a maximum of 25 humans in the space.

A few things to know:

We get messy in here. Like, REALLY messy. Please dress accordingly! While we use washable materials whenever possible, we can't promise that every masterpiece will stay off your favorite shirt. You're welcome to bring your own food, cake, and decorations.

Most importantly, this is YOUR celebration. Explore at your own pace, follow your curiosity, and enjoy your people. Make a mess. Make memories. Make it yours.

Thank you, Progressive Lifestyles, Inc! Not only for visiting The Process and sharing such beautiful words about what you found here, but for the work you do every day.

We've fallen a little bit in love with your Culture of Gentleness; the idea that safety, compassion, connection, dignity, and belonging aren't extras. They're the foundation. There is something incredibly powerful about creating environments where people are valued as they are. Where the goal isn't to make someone easier to manage or more convenient for the world around them, but to build relationships, offer meaningful choices, and help people feel safe enough to be fully themselves. We recognize so much of our own heart in that.

And then Jennifer came to visit our messy little corner of the world. Ha! And we didn't even scare her away. Instead, she saw beyond the art and slime and experiments to the permission, choice, connection, and deliciousness of the messy middle underneath it all.

Jennifer, thank you for seeing us so clearly. And Progressive Lifestyles, thank you for reminding us that there are other people out there doing this work with so much compassion and intention. We're really, really glad to know you exist.

So, Process people, go meet our new friends. We think you're going to love what they're doing as much as we do.

Make a mess

At The Process, visitors have room to explore that middle. Everyone does not need to leave with an identical finished project. An experiment can lead somewhere unexpected. Making something can be worthwhile simply because you enjoyed making it.

We're hosting an open house on September 24th! We'll have slime, oobleck, process art, engineering challenges and more.

Our new space is still a work in progress but we want you to come see the vision. We miss you!!

The Port Huron Branch of the NAACP is proud to announce Keshia Evans as the recipient of the 2026 Yvonne Williams Distinguished Volunteer Award!

The Distinguished Volunteer Award recognizes an individual whose service has made a meaningful impact throughout the Port Huron community. It honors a volunteer who has consistently given their time, energy, talents, and resources to strengthen our community while helping advance the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

Honoring the Legacy of Yvonne Williams

This award is named in honor of Yvonne Williams, one of our community's longstanding pillars whose life represents what it means to serve, not for recognition, but because the community matters.

A lifelong resident of the City of Port Huron, Yvonne has spent decades investing in people and institutions throughout our community. Her service includes her work with the Port Huron Area School District, leadership within the Port Huron Branch NAACP, and her commitment to positively impacting young people through SONS Outreach.

Beyond these roles, Yvonne has given her time and talents to numerous organizations and community efforts over the years. Her legacy reminds us that communities aren't strengthened by institutions alone—they are strengthened by people who continually show up, lend a hand, open doors, mentor the next generation, and give of themselves to make their community better.

Meet Our 2026 Honoree: Keshia Evans

That spirit of service continues through this year's honoree, Keshia Evans.

Keshia's commitment to giving back and investing in others reflects the very purpose of this award. Through her volunteer leadership, including her service as a Board Member with Enter Stage Right, she continues to demonstrate how individuals can use their time, talents, and influence to make a difference.

The impact of a volunteer isn't always measured by a title or a paycheck. Sometimes, it's measured by who showed up when help was needed, who gave their time when they didn't have to, and who continued serving simply because they believed in their community.

That is the spirit of the Yvonne Williams Distinguished Volunteer Award.
