Leslie Mix – Artist Biography

Leslie Mix is an artist outside Huron County from the beautiful state of Michigan whose work is deeply inspired by the wonder of God’s creation. Surrounded by the natural beauty of lakes, forests, and ever-changing skies, she draws from the rich palette found in the world around her—capturing the colors of nature with a sense of joy and reverence.

Her passion lies in landscape painting, where she brings to life the serenity of water, the depth of woodland, and the quiet majesty of distant horizons. Leslie often says that “there is a painting waiting just at the end of my paintbrush,” a belief that has guided her to also explore subjects such as birds, butterflies, insects, animals, and occasional still-life compositions.

Though she comes from an artistic family and has always carried a creative spirit, Leslie discovered her personal expression through painting later in life, after retirement. Encouraged by a close artist friend, she picked up the brush and found not only a passion, but a calling.

Today, Leslie seeks to inspire others just as she was once inspired. She believes that painting is not reserved only for the naturally gifted, but is open to anyone with interest and inspiration. To her, the true gift lies in the enjoyment of each brushstroke and the peace that comes from creative expression. If one can find that joy, she believes, then one is already gifted.

Grateful for the inspiration placed in her heart, Leslie continues to share her vision through her art—celebrating beauty, faith, and the simple wonder of creation.

Hey everyone just an update on the fundraiser... we're asking to bring a side dish dont matter what it is. Finger foods, chips, side salad etc... whatever. We'll have flats of Corn Beef and some other dish and looking to keep dishes that need to keep warm at a minimum. We will also have a donation jar to donate to the Green Man to support arts in the area. Also will have an small action of Leslie Mix paintings including the Green Man used for the poster. I think thats about it. Still having some tech difficulties with the Port Hope Artist sight but hopefully we'll get them resolved.

Anyway, hope you all marked your calendars for the 14th and hope to see ya there. It's a first time doing this, so we'll be working on trial and error and hopefully we'll have a soft landing.

The fishing tug Searchlight was a vessel that tragically capsized and sank in a storm off Harbor Beach on April 23, 1907, resulting in the death of all six crew members. This historic maritime disaster remains a significant, dark chapter in Michigan's Huron County fishing history, according to Thumbwind.
