And that's a wrap on On Golden Pond.
Final bow this afternoon at Playmakers Civic Theatre, and we are always a little sentimental when a show closes.

Getting to spend the last few weeks with this cast - Jeff, Peggy, Ryan, Max, Kevin, and Angela, with Brenda and Sam steering the whole ship - was one of the sweetest parts of the ride. What a talented, kind-hearted bunch.

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and filled those seats these past two weekends. This is what live theatre in a small town is all about. Our heart are full. ❤️

It's the last weekend, and it takes a village to raise a play. 💛 Out front at the table, that's the heartbeat of this show — our director Brenda MacDonald and assistant director Sam Meyer, watching every run and keeping us all honest.

It's the last weekend, y'all. Norman Thayer, in his natural habitat — holding court at the lake house while the "Welcome Home Chelsea" sign waits behind him. 😂 Jeff, you wear grumpy like a favorite shirt.

Meet Ryan Peebles, our Bill Ray in "On Golden Pond." This is only his second production at Playmakers, and he's determined to beat the sophomore jinx. He also loves that Norman turns 80 in the play, right in our 80th year.

Kevin Caudill is our Charlie Martin in "On Golden Pond." I asked his favorite part of the play, and he said it's a toss-up between Billy and Norman. Billy's lines had him in stitches from the first rehearsal, and Norman has great comedic timing for a grumpy old grouch. He also says Jeff and Norman are night and day, but Jeff is the perfect fit.

Oh my goodness, listen in on my chat with Max Ge**er, our Billy Ray in "On Golden Pond." His mom has been to rehearsals. His dad hasn't. Well Dads, now's your chance — come see Max before the play is over.
He says this one's different from his last Playmakers show. That one was a musical. This one isn't, and he likes it because it's more drama, and more funnier. I agree with him.

I asked our director Brenda MacDonald how it is working with this cast. She lost the original Charlie and says she was going to have a heart attack over it — then Kevin Caudill stepped in and has been a wonderful asset. And our Billy Ray, Max Ge**er? She says he's adorable, he has his lines, he has the inflection, he's just doing a great job. Come see for yourself.
