On Friday, June 12th, the High Frequency Flute Quartet will be in our area for two Senior Concerts, sponsored by a generous grant from the Ottawa County Community Foundation. A highly talented ensemble founded by Tamara Kagy, this flute quartet is comprised of members of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, who explore the standard and virtuoso flute repertoire that is so rich in giving voice to the flute.

The members of the quartet own and perform on all the voices of the flute, giving the ensemble a rich texture and multifaceted color. The musicians performing are Tamara Kagy, Jody Chaffee, Elizabeth Studer, and Zoe Stier.

At 1:00 PM, the High Frequency Flute Quartet will perform at Genoa Retirement Village, 200 Cherry Street in Genoa. At 3:00 PM they will give a program at Elmore Retirement Village, 633 State Street in Elmore Ohio.

Be with us on Sunday, March 29th at 3:30 PM at Firelands Presbyterian Church as we present Gene Waldron, double bass, accompanied by Grace Betry on piano. Gene is the Assistant Principal Bass of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and holds a Bachelors Degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Masters Degree from Florida State University. Gene plays on a 2023 Joey Naeger bass.

Grace recently completed her doctorate degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She currently holds a staff position at CIM, as well as collaborating in the Cleveland area. In recent years, Grace has been promoting Ukrainian classical music, as the current war strikes very close to her family and friends.

This performance is sponsored by Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP and Jack Hilbert, and 1812 Food & Spirits.

The annual Burning River Brass Christmas concert in Port Clinton
always promises a touch of tradition, a dash of jazz, and a healthy measure of festive cheer. Once again this year, the Musical Arts Series/Port Clinton will bring the Burning River Brass to the
Port Clinton High School Performing Arts Center on Sunday, December 21st at 3:30 PM for their performance of
"Christmas Around the World".

This performance is the annual Earl E. Warnke Memorial Concert, graciously sponsored by DIane Warnke and Hal Hawk and Crown Battery, the Fred Hany Family, and the Harry Stensen Memorial Trust Fund. Thanks to these sponsors, this Christmas concert will be offered free of charge, with no tickets necessary.

Since 1996, Burning River Brass has been dazzling audiences with “power and virtuosity”, “harmonious blend”, and “consistently stirring performances”. The original inspiration behind Burning River Brass was to give geat players who were also good friends a chance to play together on a consistent basis. Composed of 12 of the finest brass and percussion players in the country, Burning River Brass is an ensemble on fire!
