Happy Spring Equinox! 🌸 🌄
The spring equinox, also known as the vernal equinox, is one of two points in the Earth's orbit where the Sun crosses the celestial equator, leading to nearly equal hours of daylight and darkness.
This event marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and occurs around March 20 or 21 each year. In the Southern Hemisphere, the spring equinox occurs around September 22 or 23, signaling the start of spring there.
During an equinox, the Sun's rays fall directly on the equator. As the Earth orbits the Sun, its axis is tilted at an angle of about 23.5 degrees. This tilt is responsible for the change in seasons. During the equinox, however, this tilt is such that no hemisphere is tilted towards or away from the Sun, resulting in the near-equal length of day and night.
