The Port Austin Community Players is a community theatre organization that has been presenting live theatre in the Thumb area since 1974. PACP has owned its own facility in downtown Port Austin since 1975. The group presents 5 to 6 productions each year, plus concerts and variety shows.

Our youth show, OZ!, is coming in like a tornado. Sets are being completed, dances are shaping up, costumes are lining the racks. Glenda and the Wicked Witch are facing off as Dorothy and Toto try to find their way home. Our youth program has been in rehearsal since February and showtime is just around the corner. Don’t forget auditions for the Odd Couple (female version) will be held June 3 & 4 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. 6 women, 2 men are needed. There is also a need for set builders, painters, set decorators, stage crew, and lighting people. Even if being on stage isn’t your thing, we usually need two people off stage to support each person on stage. Sets don’t build themselves and lights don’t run themselves. There is a job for anyone willing to lend a hand.

It’s almost show time. This is a “drama”, drama. Moody and dark with twists and turns. Keeps you on the edge of your seat right up to the end. In all honesty we don’t do a lot of true dramas. We often do what I would call a “dramady” drama, with a lot of comedy mixed in. This is a true drama. Wonderfully written and filled with suspense. Opening this Friday April 24, and running Friday, Saturday, Sunday, through May 3. For reservations, call 989-738-5217.

We are now taking reservations for our spring drama, Night Watch. This is a great thriller you don’t want to miss. April 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2, and 3. Show times Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, Sundays at 2:00. Come and be engrossed in this show from beginning to end, one of the purest dramas we’ve ever done.

In the mean time we are having auditions for our spring show, Night Watch, Monday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 3 from 6:00-8:00 both nights. No experience needed, every person on our stages had to have a first show, and this thriller could be yours. Crew is also needed, set building, lights, sound, backstage work, costumes, props, painting, stage crew. For every person on stage it takes at least one person behind the scenes to make the show go on.

Join us this weekend and next, as 86 (Micheal Zick) and 99 (Amy Britt) attempt to save the free world. Mr. Big (Molly Dando) and the Chief (Dennis Hafeli) lock horns to save, or destroy the free world. Show times, February 27 @7:30, February 28 @2:00, March 1 @2:00, March 6 @7:30, March 7 @7:30, and March 8 @2:00. Reservations can be made by calling 989-738-5217. At this time we accept cash or personal check.
