Meet our Dungeness crab! We featured her a few months ago, but she's back for Crab Fest and the perfect way to kick off our spooky series this October!

Each week, we'll spotlight a different spooky critter with some fun facts. Stay tuned!

Spooky Crab Facts:
Crabs are nocturnal, so nighttime is the best time to go crabbing. They're drawn to light, so a flashlight is a crabber's secret weapon!
Dungeness crabs hide by burrowing backward into sand or mud until only their eyes, antennae, or the top of their shell are showing.

Welcome Lucian!

Lucian is an environmental educator who adores all things weird, wild, and wonderful about the oceans. They graduated from Beloit College, WI, and have a particular passion for invertebrates (animals without spines), as well as aquatic microbiology.

They will be serving as a Washington Conservation Corps Education and Outreach assistant for the Feiro Marine Life Center for 2026 and 2027! They look forward to leading programs for the public, using art to teach science, and connecting people with the water around them.

We are so excited to have Lucian on the team!

Join the Port Angeles Noon Rotary on October 10th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM!
Located: 611 East Front Street, Port Angeles

Feel free to bring any of the items on the list! Functional items will be refurbished, and non-usable items will be broken down and sorted by material.

They suggest a donation of $10 per item. All funds go to the Rotary Foundation to support local community projects and scholarships.

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 3rd, the North Olympic Library System is hosting a costume swap! This event will be held from 10:30AM-12:00PM in the Port Angeles Main Library, Raymond Carver Room.

Reminder: Day of Play is happening TOMORROW!
Celebrate Worldwide Day of Play at Feiro!

Dates: Saturday, September 26
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (drop in anytime!)
Cost: FREE admission for kids (0-17 years old)

On Saturday, September 26 from 10am – 4pm, join us at the Feiro Marine Life Center for a fun-filled Worldwide Day of Play! Children are invited to participate in a variety of activities throughout the day. For this special event, activities and admission into Feiro are FREE for kids!

Every hour, on the hour, we’ll host exciting outdoor games and activities just outside the Center. Inside our classroom, kids can dive into marine-themed LEGO play, button making, creative crafting and coloring activities. Don’t miss out on our adventurous scavenger hunt with nature-themed items waiting to be discovered around the building and beach! Explore the aquarium and try to find everything your bingo card! Or play games in the classroom.
