In the begining
I’m often asked when and how I got into tattooing.
I was inspired at a very young age of around 7 years old to start drawing. I had cousins who I thought were absolutely amazing at it and I looked up to them. I spent years and years trying to be “good” at it. Nothing ever came easy as many may think it does. That is when and why my passion for art started.
From there I was introduced to tattooing by a buddies cousin. I went with him to his cousins one day where they had constructed a very crude “home made tattoo machine”. I was around 13 or 14 years old. When asked if I wanted a tattoo ummm of course I do lol. So I received a very poorly done little cross on my left shoulder. To which my mother was far from thrilled about my getting and I tried to lie and say it was permanent marker. She spent about 10 minutes attempting to wash off my “permanent” marker before I finally fessed up.
I decided I wanted to build my own machine so I set out to replicate what I had seen that day. After a few failed attempts, and one small fire due to a lack of understanding between a/c and d/c currents, I finally constructed my very own machine. At this time I started offering free “tattoos”, term loosely used, to anyone who would allow me to mess up on their skin. I spent a few years dabling with it more as a hobby before really deciding that THIS is what I want to do. This is the career I want to be in.
