Two years ago in November heaven gained an angel by the name of Missy Speer. This phrase is often used as we consider all of our loved ones flying high to be our special angels. But, the thing about my dear friend Missy is she was an angel while she was here on earth every day of her life as well. She was constantly collecting for those in need, reaching out to local businesses to provide help, bringing care packages to the homeless (whom she knew by name), and always being generous with her time for family and friends when they needed her. Many of you at the studio may remember her as "the bow lady". Every Tuesday evening she made bows for the dancers while she waited for her daughter Scarlett to get out of dance class.
After her passing a hashtag was created, . It was a reminder of how she lived her life so that we can all remember her when we care for our community in the way that she always did. Last year, one of ACADC's students, Aurora Deaver approached me because she wanted to do something special for her to honor her memory this month this has now become a studio tradition. We have set up a donation box at the studio for the Ronald McDonald House to collect items. I truly cannot think of anything better to celebrate Missy than providing help to children and their families this holiday season. Aurora asks that when you deliver your items, please hastag by the box at the studio so we can celebrate together. I will also be adding a donate button if you would like to send a donation directly to the RMH here in town. We will be collecting items in the lobby until December 3rd.
