The Tanglefoot Trail located in the Mississippi Hills National Heritage area preserves the abandoned railroad corridor assembled for the Ripley Railroad by Col. With its storied past, the 44.5 mile asphalt trail offers multi-use recreational opportunities as it winds through six communities, forests, fields, pastures, and wetlands in Union, Pontotoc and Chickasaw counties in northeast Mississippi. Bikers, walkers, joggers, runners and nature enthusiasts enjoy the beauty of the trees, the meadows, the creeks, the flora and the fauna with an occasional stop to learn a bit of history.

IMPORTANT: TOUR DE BODOCK DATE CHANGE TO SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH
Dear Tour de Bodock Entrant,
Again, thank you for your support of our event and the Tanglefoot Trail! Your involvement is much appreciated and benefits the Trail.
Unfortunately, the forecast for our area for Saturday has worsened with a very high likelihood of heavy rain and strong winds beginning before our scheduled start and continuing through much of the day. Obviously, these conditions would be miserable and unsafe for riders and our volunteers.
We have been in touch with dozens of people who are critical to the success of our event, and we have been able to change the ride by one week to SATURDAY OCTOBER 17th, at the same time and same place. We know that it will be difficult for some people to change their plans, but we believe that trying to ride this Saturday would be unsafe.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope that you will be able to attend, and we plan to have an outstanding event on Saturday the 17th.

Due to the strong storms last night, there were some downed trees and debris along the Trail. We are working on clearing debris. Please be safe and thank you for your patience.

UPDATE 8/11/26:
The contractor will be re-decking another bridge in the same area as the last. The trail will remain closed south of the Ingomar Whistle Stop from County Road 96 to Johnson Bend Road from approximate Mile Markers 35.05 to 36.12. There is no alternate route. Updates will continue to be posted. Thank you.
