J.R (Jacquelin) Coughlan,
I am a self-taught analog collage artist, and all my work is one-of-a-kind and made without digital manipulation.
Paradoxically, I create collages by demolishing books and magazines, despite my background as a retired university librarian who deeply reveres books and the printed word. Words often evoke surrealistic images for me, serving as a rich source of inspiration. My creative process is frequently driven by wordplay, humor, quotes, poetry, puns, and experiences from international travel. I find the playful use of language and the humor embedded within these elements particularly stimulating, reflecting a sense of joy and curiosity. I believe that I possess an imaginative and playful spirit and a youthful outlook. I am often mistaken for an adult because of my age.
My work is often exhibited at the St. Augustine Art Association gallery and The Pier Galley at St. Augustine Beach.
