We're so excited to offer another Grown Up Sewing Workshop this Sunday!

If you are signed up, please let us know if you will be bringing your own sewing machine or would like to use one of ours. Either way is great!

Also, this workshop offers a variety of project choices; please let us know what you would like to make so we can be sure to have the materials ready for you. Feel free to text back at 985-373-0468 if you have any questions. We are sending this message to you via email, but will also send it via text to be sure you receive it.

Project choices include: bowl cozies & covers, a zipper pouch set, or a simple pullover wrap top. Let us know what you would like to do and we'll go from there! We can supply all of the materials/fabric needed for everything but the wrap top. You're also welcome to bring your own fabric if you wish.

Finishing up our 2nd week of Matisse inspired artwork at Sunshine Studio, and our Sculpt & Shape class got their hands messy creating paper mache bowls. We drew with scissors to create irregular and organic shapes in an array of colors, then used art paste to paper mache them together in a pleasing combination. It's going to be fun to take them off of their balloon armatures and discover how the designs look inside! 😍😍😍

Hey Sunshine!

Sewing classes begin TODAY and we have 2 spots left in both our homeschool and after school options. Our first project for this 4 week session is a super cute patchwork sea turtle or box turtle plushie that allows kids to utilize a dazzling array of fabrics. After all, we know that 90% of sewing fun includes playing with fabric! Beginners and experienced sewists are welcome- there's always something new to learn and great opportunities to practice your skills.

Weekly classes are moving right along, and this past week we learned a little about "The King of Color," Henri Matisse. 🌈✂️💐🎨👑

Artists in our Kaleidoscope and Homeschool classes drew and began painting pieces inspired by his famous goldfish. While everyone is painting the "same thing," everyone's artwork is hardly the same. 😍 It's fun to see the different details and choices that each artist makes.

Art Explorers class practiced drawing a variety of vase shapes and used a array of lines and shapes to create flowers and leaves- a very familiar sight in many Matisse still life paintings! They used "magic paper" to transfer their bouquets onto canvas and began to paint.

Our Sculpt & Shape class learned about Matisse's collage pieces and created clay snails with embedded beads and pipe cleaners. Next, they cut irregular shapes from a broad spectrum of colored paper. These will be used in a paper mache bowl that we will begin next week. ✂️
