We love you, Rae!! Congrats!! ❤️🖤
Meet Lorin Scott, a Psychology major, Dance minor, and the choreographer for Songs For a New World.
When asked why audiences should attend the show, Lorin shared. "People should attend the show to experience a dynamic performance highlighting all walks of life and will. I believe every person who comes to watch the show will be able to see themselves in one of the characters or songs."
"My favorite part of the show process so far has been working with Director Lyndsee Bell and Stage Manager Ava Blaskovich, along with the rest of the crew, to create the world on stage that does this series justice. I have also really enjoyed working with the dancers Dana, McKenna, Emma, Imanol, Hayley, and Keaton to create the vision that Lyndsee and the amazing singers have for their pieces to come to life. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in college to work with this cast and crew."
As someone who has spent time both performing and choreographing, Lorin keeps a simple approach when preparing for a show.
"When I was a performer, I would typically drink a lot of water and just breathe. Running choreography before a show always seemed to mess me up!"
Why OSU Theatre?
"When I walked into my first dance class with OSU Theatre, I walked into such a welcoming and growth-driven space thanks to Dance Professor Jessica Oliver. Instead of stopping there, I continued into a dance minor where the welcoming community continues to grow. I have only been here for a short time, but I feel as though the cast and crew for the show are a second family, and I would choose OSU Theatre again and again."
Through movement, collaboration, and storytelling, Lorin has helped shape the many worlds audiences will experience throughout Songs For a New World October 2-4.
