🚜 Welcome to Farm School! 🌱 We are a hands-on learning program where kids connect with nature, grow their own food, and care for amazing farm animals. 🐔 From seed to harvest, we build life skills, confidence, and a deep love for the outdoors. 🌿

This week in class, we took a deep dive into natural disasters and homestead preparation! 🌪️☔ We talked all about securing food, clean water, and safe shelter, and the kids even got to practice using our hand pump well! 💧🤠
For our hands-on activity, the students built mini barns and shelters out of popsicle sticks to protect their paper farm animals. 🛖🐄 Once their structures were built, we put them to the test with a simulated hurricane spray-down to see whose shelter held strong and kept the animals dry! 🌧️🌬️
It was such a fun, hands-on week of learning and problem-solving! 🚜✨

🐐 Managing wethers (castrated male goats) on the farm is all about keeping their diet balanced! Because they don't have testosterone, they are much more prone to urinary calculi (bladder stones), so managing their protein and mineral intake is super important. 🌾

🐐 If your goat is less than 8 weeks old they can get diarrhea from a change of milk or just too much milk.

Yesterday we decided to supplement with store milk since the kids are getting big and their dam is not producing alot. With the change of milk it is common for them to have a little bit of an upset belly.
