Female goats go into heat about every 21 days and it lasts about 24-48 hours. They become very talkative and…ahem…receptive to male attention.

On our farm, we have 9 does. So there’s generally not a day of the month that someone isn’t in heat, until they all start cycling together. Then it’s like a co-ed frat party during homecoming weekend, sans the beer kegs.

Today, we moved our mini bull Charlie into the pen with Sweet Caroline so they can do the brown chicken brown cow. 💋🥰👶🏻

He needed to go through the parking lot, into the steer pen, through the goat pen, across the cow pen, and into the bo***ir with Caroline. Which meant moving all the little goats into the sheep pen, the steer into the little goat pen, the big goats into the middle wood pen, the other minis, the donkey and the big cattle into the barn.

All in 100 degree heat. We succeeded! The happy couple will hopefully be producing a baby come June 2027.
