Sorry, but learning mixing from someone with their $7000 speakers on MoPads is like having the driving instructor show up with a BMW i8 and a spare tire on the car. Guess you don't care the bass has no punch and the highs are fuzzy.

Even the best gear in the world won't make a crappy song good.

In the early 80s Springsteen was recording demos SM57s on a TASCAM 144 cassette 4 track. They mixed those demos down to cassette on a boombox. Those demos became 􏰇􏰈􏰚􏰅􏰎􏰊􏰛􏰎􏰇􏰈􏰚􏰅􏰎􏰊􏰛􏰎􏰇􏰈􏰚􏰅􏰎􏰊􏰛􏰎Nebraska. I'm a big fan of this record, so I wanted to see what the best version was. They have a 192k/24bit version. WHAT?! ALL the other albums are 96k/24. WTF!!

Okay you software engineers, stop changing the look and positions of the F #$%ING buttons on programs that have been around got years. Why does every new version now have to have a different interface layout? How about making the program work first?!?!?

Doing 1/4" 7.5ips transfers from tapes recorded in 1957. They sound great and are playing well. Had DATs from 1997 that won't play at all.

Here's a good test question. You're recording people singing around a mic. Why use 2 U87s in omni, setup as a Blumlein pair, instead of just one U87s in omni? (Blumlein = 2 mics turned 90 degrees)

Answer: Large cap omni mics aren't omni at upper frequencies.
