⚠️ Turtle Crossing! ⚠️

In spring and summer, turtles are active and commonly seen on paths, roads, and waterways in the park. Here are some things you can do to help keep turtles safe:

🐢 Slow down, especially on park roads.
🐢 Give them space. If you see a turtle crossing a path or road, and they are not in immediate danger, let them continue on their own.
🐢 Don’t turn the turtle around. Turtles have a strong sense of direction, so it’s important that they keep moving in their original direction.
🐢 Move slowly and quietly to avoid startling or stressing the turtle. This can cause them to change direction, stop moving, or hide inside their shells.

Did you know? We have life jackets available to borrow at select Three Rivers locations!

Properly fitted Coast Guard-approved life jackets are one of the most effective methods to reduce drowning, and at several Three Rivers Park District locations we have a limited quantity of life jackets available for people to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis.

Boaters can find life jackets available to borrow at the following parks' boat launches:
🛥️ Baker Park Reserve (at Lake Independence boat launch)
🛥️ Bryant Lake Regional Park
🛥️ French Regional Park

Swimmers and paddlers can find life jackets available to borrow at the following locations:
🛟 Baker Park Reserve (at Watercraft Rental Th/F 12–6 p.m. and Sa/Su 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
🛟 Carver Park Reserve (at campground)
🛟 Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park (at boat rental building weekends only)
🛟 Cleary Lake Regional Park (at boat rental building)
🛟 Elm Creek Park Reserve Swim Pond

Sail into summer with Northern Breezes Youth Sailing Camp! ⛵️

At Medicine Lake Sailing Youth Camp & Teen Programs, youth ages 8-18 are introduced to the lifelong sport of sailing. Campers learn to skipper and crew a centerboard sailboat in light to moderate wind and sea conditions in familiar waters with supervision. Campers gain confidence, teamwork and leadership skills, as well as knowledge of water safety.

We can't believe that there's only a week until the biggest shell-ebration of the year: Turtle Fest, right here at French Park! 🐢

Join experts and the community to learn about and celebrate turtles! Meet live turtles, see them in their natural habitats, connect with organizations specializing in turtles, hop in a boat to see them from the water, take part in creative turtle-themed projects and more.

While it may not be meteorological summer yet, it's summer in the park! Here's what you need to know:

🛶Boat Rental: 11am–7pm weekends and holidays; 11am–7pm daily starting June 5*
🐠 Swimming Beach: 9am–8pm daily; unguarded*
🍦Visitor Center: 9am–8pm daily
🛝 Play Area: 9am–sunset daily
🌳Park Hours: 5am–10pm daily

🌿🌷Signs of Spring: May 22, 2026 🌷🌿

It's a rainy and cool spring day, which feels like a fitting end to our Signs of Spring series. We hope you enjoyed following along with all the changes in the park, and though this series might be done, there are still plenty of places to explore along the trails.

And the fun's not over - with Turtle Fest, Performance on the Patio, and other exciting events, we can't wait to see you in the parks this summer!
