THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO.
Earlier this year, we met one of the many indigenous domestic violence survivors. We met her at one of the shelters that we collaborate with.
Like many survivors, she has shown extraordinary courage and tenacity to navigate through so many life challenges, and to successfully redefine her life’s course. After the event, she sent us this message. This message exemplifies the amazing/wonderful survivors that we meet at each shelter.
Please take a moment to read the information below regarding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW):
The impact of domestic violence in their lives is overwhelming. Indigenous women are murdered at 10x the national average.
84% of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) women have experienced violence in their lifetime.
