【快報】義大利抒情女高音Rosanna Carteri過世，享年89歲。（1930/12/14~ 2020/10）她1949年時以Lohengrin女主角Elsa（！）首次踏上歌劇舞臺，在涯中陸續唱了Alice Ford、Micaela、Liù、Desdemona、Traviata、Manon（Massenet）、Suzel、Tosca、Mimi、Suor Angelica、Susanna等角色。也唱了不少義大利現代歌劇。

她在1966年就退出舞臺，只有在1971年才短暫演出幾次。她聲音有漂亮的抒情本質，惟非以技巧出名，也不是美聲訓練，在Teatro alla Scala演出Rigoletto中的抒情花腔角色Gilda，咸認是錯誤之舉；另外有場La donna del lago有留下錄音，也唱得像寫實主義歌劇、和羅西尼沒什麼關係。不過她身材與扮相美妙，1958年在Napoli演出普契尼La rondine有錄影可看，由Video Artists International發行DVD：

【推薦】The Metropolitan Opera天播出的Lucia di Lammermoor。二個重點：
1.最大的賣點顯然是Natalie Dessay—瘋狂場景整體感人，即使很可惜她沒早點錄影。
2.想看演唱良好的露琪亞錄影，請看文中（輕巧的）版本比較。

這製作出DVD時女主角是Anna Netrebko，效果差很多。Dessay音色雖不算適合這角色，但露琪亞曾經是她最棒的角色之一；很可惜她早期的錄影沒發行—2006年她聲帶雖然已經開過刀，但在巴黎Opéra Bastille的聲音還不錯，而且出場跑馬歌高潮中坐超長的鞦韆盪往觀眾席，瘋狂場景則在馬廄大水槽洗手，再在稻草與鐵框中爬上爬下。但之前YouTube上（影像狀況不好的）錄影都撤光了。

Dessay 2009年在大都會演完Zimmerman新製作的夢遊女後，2010原要演Hamlet（女配角是Jennifer Larmore），但因病取消，由Marlis Petersen瓜代。2011年終於回到大都會，演的是她當初2007年在大都會啟用的這個Zimmerman露琪亞。這檔演出有了解美聲的指揮，不過幾乎所有配角都不甚討喜，尤其男低音；唯一的例外，是表現稱職的倒楣新郎。

整個陣容中聲音狀況最好的是男高音Joseph Calleja。Dessay由於聲音衰退明顯，開場很難抓住注意力，到兄妹二重唱才較有戲感。導演也得負點責，畢竟像婚禮場景很好發揮，導演卻選在眾人劍拔弩張之際、讓婚禮攝影師聚合大家拍照，既荒謬又轉移注意力。至於Wolf's Crag場景，竟然是在室內。而且導演似乎沒在男角身上花心思，他們常常被迫park and bark。

瘋狂場景值得一看—Donizetti精采的設計中有許多破碎的音樂片段，相當挑戰歌手的統合能力；戲劇上也很能發揮。Dessay雖然聲音已有侷限，仍然成功呈現了讓人摒息的悲劇，值得讓人一掬同情之淚。

在Dessay較佳的Lucia錄影發行前，能完整看到她這個大都會演出，已經很好了。如果想要看聲音狀況較佳的Lucia，二個最好的選擇應該是：
1. Renata Scotto + Carlo Bergonzi 1967在東京的錄影，Bruno Bartoletti指揮（Video Artists International發行），
2. Lisette Oropesa + Javier Camarena 2018在Teatro Real（製作昏暗，Alisa很弱，不過還是不要太挑剔，至少男高音和男中音Artur Rucinski都不錯），現在OperaVision限時串流：

3. 以前YouTube似乎有Ruth Welting的原調全劇，不過現在任何影像都被撤了。所謂原調，指的是兄妹二重唱、以及瘋狂場景都比現在常見版高一個全音；她在這麼高的音域—瘋狂場景一路唱到high f—還能維持聲音表情，真的相當值得稱道。

☆附帶一提，Lucia是齣需要面面俱到的戲，不過也幾乎（幾乎）穩坐我最愛11齣歌劇之首：

【歷史上的今天】1974年的Festival d'Orange，7/20下午風勢強烈，大家猶豫是否應該取消晚上的演出。最後的決定，是咬著牙，照原訂計畫開演。在當時錄影可看到，在女主角進場、以及之後的數個重唱中，風都將主角們的長袍吹得不住飄動；他們靜止不動時，看起來尤為明顯。所幸演出是沒取消，因而成就了bel canto歌劇歷史上的一刻—至少，根據Montserrat Caballé所說，這是她歌唱生涯中最重要的成就。

想來她說得沒錯，因為她這次詮釋的Norma，除了遠勝在錄音室的表現，也比其他數款現場錄音錄影來得優秀。（她在 "casta diva" 結尾，甚至唱出她不算擅長的trill。）錄音史上至今無人能敵的Norma Maria Callas，在看了這錄影後，淡淡對導演Pierre Jourdan說，「你把她拍得太美了。」她後來在與卡芭葉一次會面中，把諾瑪這角色「傳」給了她。

與卡芭葉並肩作戰的歌手中，次女高音Josephine Veasey並非以美聲風格著稱，但兼顧聲音美感與溫情。Jon Vickers聲音不美，但有足以抗衡的氣勢。指揮Giuseppe Patanè在控制場面之際，也給了歌手適宜的自由。這錄影在網路上出沒不定，我看了好幾次；希望有一天能把Video Artists International出的DVD抱回家。
