We had a lovely announcement prepared.
Truly, we did.

But it is difficult to gather one’s thoughts with all this tapping at the door, and harder still to account for the heartbeat beneath the floor. We have tried to sleep. We have tried to wake. Lately, the distinction escapes us.

So let us tell you, while our wits are still our own…

Atascosa County Troupe presents our fall production
POE: DREAMS OF MADNESS
By Allyssa Hynes
Pioneer Drama Services

Nearly midnight, and a Raven waits to es**rt Edgar Allan Poe through the nightmares of his own making. His stories have found their voices. The dead have found their way back. And the pendulum grants him less and less time to wonder whether he is dreaming.

Perhaps sharing our secret will give us some peace.
Perhaps tonight the house will be still.

Hush.
There it is again.

🐦‍⬛ Opening night: Saturday, November 14
7:30 PM • Doors open at 7 PM

Sunday, November 15 • 2 PM matinee & 6 PM
Friday, November 20 • 7:30 PM
Saturday, November 21 • 7:30 PM
Sunday, November 22 • 5 PM

Join us for an evening of beautiful unease.
We would so hate to spend it alone.

Our Fall production has been chosen, rehearsals scheduled; but we’re not revealing the title just yet.

What do YOU think we’re bringing to the stage this November?

What if every post was a warning?

Every riddle, a confession.

Every clue, another turn of the key.

The ball gown.
The chandelier.
The dance lessons.

You thought we were teasing just an event.

We were telling you a story.

After all, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”

And every road, every role, every whispered clue has led you here.

For centuries, we have written of love that consumes us. Love denied. Love betrayed. Love that follows us into madness, into grief… even into the grave.

We have mourned beneath balconies.
Heard heartbeats beneath floorboards.
Watched beautiful things become terrible in the hands of obsession.

And still…

we love.

So this February, step beyond the curtain.

(A perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day if you do that sort of thing.)

Perhaps love was never meant to be confined to a single day.

Every day gives us reason to celebrate love in all its forms: the beautiful and the broken, the requited and the unrequited, the love that saves us, the love that ruins us, the love we find, the love we lose, and the love that somehow refuses to die.

🖤 THE MASQUE OF HIDDEN HEARTS 🖤
A Tragic Love Masquerade

Because not every love story ends happily ever after.

Some simply…

never end.

So come dance beneath the chandeliers.
Eat. Drink. Don your mask. Make memories worthy of their own story.

And while you do, help us keep another story alive.

Every ticket, every dance, every seat at the table helps support ACT Theatre and the stage that has brought stories to life for our community for generations.

Come for the masquerade.

Stay for the story.

Help us make sure the curtain keeps rising.

More details to come.**

We won’t lie, It’s been a week. But guess what?
We’re here.

Did you wake up this morning feeling like you forgot something?

Butterflies?
Nerves?
A strange feeling that TODAY is important?

Is it excitement?!

…or is it heartburn from last night’s dinner?

Honestly, could go either way.

But it’s officially the start of auditions!
You have 3 chances.

Friday, August 28 at 7 PM
Saturday, August 29 at 7 PM
Sunday, August 30 at 7 PM

Grab your monologue.

Practice it in the kitchen.
Practice it in the car.

Have a tiny existential crisis in the parking lot.

Then walk through those doors anyway.

After the week the entertainment world has had, perhaps we borrow a little courage from three extraordinary performers.

Bring a little Dolly:
Dream big, work hard, and never underestimate the power of a little sparkle. ✨

And if you’re standing in the parking lot feeling a little more Eeyore than Dolly?

Come in anyway.

Because auditions are, after all, one great big opportunity to say:

“Thanks for noticing me.” 🩶

And in honor of Tim Curry?

Well…

Don’t dream it.

BE IT.

You don’t have to feel completely ready.
You don’t have to leave your nerves at home.

You just have to walk through the door.

The lights are waiting.
The stage is waiting.

And somewhere inside ACT Theatre, a director may be waiting to meet someone they don’t even know they need yet.

Maybe that someone is you.

Now quit reading Facebook and GO AUDITION!

The show goes on. ❤️

The game continues…

Riddle No. 2 has arrived.

Some of you were quick to solve the first one. Let’s see if this one keeps you guessing a little longer.

And since you’ve already started playing, perhaps we should let you in on a little secret…

We’re keeping track.

Participation, correct guesses, and playing along with our clues may earn you chances to win prizes as we get closer to the reveal.

So don’t sit quietly in the audience.

Study the clue. Make your guess. And keep playing.

What am I?

Drop your answer below.

And remember… in theatre, those who pay attention usually notice things everyone else misses.
