Some bittersweet news: This will be my last column. I will be moving to Raleigh, NC soon. I am incredibly lucky to have family nearby as I start my new adventure. I am excited but also sad at the thought of leaving home. It is where I grew up and lived my whole life with the exception of college. I will miss the house I grew up in, the area I grew up in, St. Joseph’s Church, Harford Fair, Animal Adventure Park, friends and especially family, like my Aunt Jean Matoushek and cousin Louie Matoushek and his family, Kaleigh, Corey and Emily. I do plan on coming back and visiting. And I will miss covering stories for Herrick, Clifford and Clinton Townships and other municipalities and other feature stories I have done the past 12 years. I will also miss this column. I may not have met you but I thank you for all the submissions you have given over the years and glad I got to “know” you through emails and calls. May God Bless each and every one of you and best wishes for the future. Happy Trails from me and my kitty Anna!

Congratulations to all the graduates out there. You certainly won’t forget the year you graduated. As you have seen, perseverance pays off. Best of luck in your future plans!

Mark your calendars for June 20 and attend a barbecue at Cold Spring Chapel's Community Kitchen. Recognizing that everyone has been so sequestered for the past weeks, the Souper Sisters at the kitchen have planned a barbecue to brighten your day. Hot on the heels of a well-attended drive through roast pork dinner in May, the menu for June's meal is: Hot dogs and hamburgers, macaroni and potato salad, baked beans, chips and brownies. At this time, the barbecue is planned for take out only but if the safety restrictions are lifted, we will be able to picnic on the chapel grounds. Serving begins at 11:30 and ends at 1:30. "All of us at the chapel are so grateful for your patience during the pandemic and we look forward to seeing you all soon", said Pastor Bryant. Cold Spring Chapel Community Kitchen is located at the crossroads of Upper Woods Road and Great Bend Turnpike in Lebanon Township, Wayne County. . Nice to see St. Joseph’s Church on WNEP Channel 16’s news report on churches reopening in the yellow phase during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They interviewed former organist and current choir member Carl Cerar. Lots of changes but at least people can start going back to church on a limited basis. Faith and hope are important to have, especially in the trying times we are in today.

Glad to see that Wayne and Susquehanna Counties are making progress by going into the yellow phase of opening up during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Churches will slowly be opening up under state guidelines as well as other businesses. I mention churches because weekly offerings are down at churches across the country. If you can, please give to your local church, either by dropping off your offering or mailing it to the church office. They will be most appreciative.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!

I promised more from “How To Remain Sane In An Insane World”. Here they are: Don’t try to teach your cat to sing (I would get a dirty look and a slap from mine); Practice the ‘Golden Rule’; Never say, “I should have.”; Visit an animal shelter and adopt a pet; Be thankful for that which you have; Make time for yourself; This one is relevant now more than ever: Remember, NOTHING is permanent; Allow yourself to forgive; Take responsibility for your own happiness; Don’t use the words hate, forgot or can’t; Do what you say you will do; See the good in everyone; Smell the roses; Remain optimistic; Never give up hope; Don’t tip-toe through life...skip; Smile more. Love more; Treat every child with love...you never know: one of them may someday be your dentist and Follow your rainbow.

Stay healthy!!!
