Card of the day, Biblioplex Assistant!

This is a card that fills a niche, and I think that’s awesome! If you’re playing a color with less access to recursion or even colorless, the Assistant is here to help! Now it goes to library instead of hand, but sometimes that’s just as good with a draw effect or spell! It’s nice that it is a flying body to swing/block with too, and I wouldn’t even say 4 is an unreasonable cmc for a card that gives access to this effect to anyone! Happy that we got a useful one, and honestly, it’s very entertaining!

Card of the day, on time this time!!!

Today we pulled…GREATAXE! What can I say, it’s a GREAT axe! It is an axe and it is big! It certainly is an equipment, and you could totally pay to play it! Then, once you’ve played it, you can spend far too much mana to equip it!

Gonna level with everyone real quick, I feel this is our first dud. There’s not a lot to say here. This card isn’t good, and in the ways it could be playable there are better options. Even if you’re cheating the equip cost there are far better also cheap targets to put in your deck. This was born for limited/draft, and I can’t say I would pick it over a lot of other cards in the set even if it’s a mana dump ability that keeps up pressure.

Play something else. There are greater axes out there. This card fulfills the bad card slot so other stuff can look better. Thank you for reading!

I forgot to hit post yesterday so prepare for 2 consecutive daily cards!

The card of the day (yesterday?) is Oreplate Pangolin! This card is part of a few crazy combos but is still pretty niche as far as I’m aware! With this and an Animation Module, you can pretty quickly get a little funny! If you add in an Ashnod’s Altar, Krark Clan Ironworks, or a Mana Echoes, you can go crazy instead!

The excitement of the Ankeny grand opening is in the rearview!

Back to card of the day! I will have a more consistently posting schedule going forward for this too, so hopefully we can look and talk about more random cards together.

Now the card, Grow from the Ashes! It has kicker, which is in and out of fashion by many names set by set. Honestly, I don’t know if I’d really play this card un-kicked, since if you play it it kicked there’s a very funny world where you then play a Three Visits into a Caravan Vigil. With Morbid active on Vigil you could go up 4 basics in a turn! There’s certainly way better ways to get there but come on, thats fun and funny if the stars align!

As for the beautiful art, I would say this is an older sibling of sorts to Blight Pile and a younger sibling to Phyrexian Colossus who I believe both cards are referencing. I always find it cool to see machinery or massive creatures in various stages of decrepitness or decay on cards, it helps keep the world feeling lived in and reminds of the history of the game, and Dominaria sure has a lot of history!
