Absolute music = music for music's sake. The music itself IS the narrative, the larger story.

Programmatic music = music serves to paint the picture of a larger story, poem, or narrative. Music is a vehicle.

Do you think choral music can be absolute music, even though there is text? Or is it ALWAYS programmatic music? Thoughts? Any specific pieces that fall in either category?
