We specialize in classical ballet training as well as contemporary, jazz, tap, and musical theatre. Welcome to Barlow Arts Conservatory (BAC), one of Utah's finest ballet schools since 2006. At Barlow Arts Conservatory we are dedicated to superior ballet training and technique. We believe a dedicated and disciplined study of ballet in a safe and caring environment is not only fundamental to all mo

dern forms of dance, but also a valuable experience for developing self-esteem, respect and joy in young people. Barlow Arts Conservatory is the premier private studio in Utah for producing professional level artists. In addition to Ballet, BAC maintains a full Jazz track and a Musical Theater program. Faculty at BAC is the most trained and experienced in the State of Utah. Every teacher either has or is pursuing a degree in dance or equivalent professional level experience, with 4 teachers having MFA Degrees in Ballet performance, choreography and pedagogy. Students from BAC have received scholarships to train with: School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Houston Ballet, Princess Grace Academy in Monaco, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Boston Ballet School, Ballet West Academy, Grand Rapids Ballet, San Francisco Dance Conservatory, University of Utah Ballet Department, Brigham Young University, and Utah Valley University. Annual productions and performance opportunities include: The Nutcracker, a full production of Tchaikovsky's classic with professional Guest Artists, a January Gala Company Showcase, a Spring Jr. Musical Theater Production, and an end of year Studio Recital. Summer Intensive programs include a week-long Musical Theater workshop, and a month-long Ballet Intensive. See our Summer Programs page for more details. I’m very excited and happy to announce that after teaching for 29 years and running Barlow Arts Conservatory for 16 years I’ve decided to retire from teaching. In a completely full circle moment I’m elated that Ballet West has acquired Barlow Arts Conservatory. It was unanimously approved by the Ballet West board Thursday Evening. Ballet West will be moving their Thanksgiving Point student body to join our students at our Pleasant Grove studios beginning Jan. 3rd, 2023. The extra bonus to this acquisition is the brilliant, thoughtful, and talented Heather Thackeray, who has been my close friend since I was 8 years old, will now be the Principal of both student bodies.

To my students past and present! I love you! I believe in you! I’m here for you … always! This has always been about YOU!  You are the reason I loved my job. Thank you for the laughs, your talent, hard work, sacrifices, kindness, and your insane accomplishments both in and outside of dance. You are the stars! And it was your dancing and your kindness that made this studio so reputable. I’m so proud of each of you, and you will always be in my heart and part of my life.

To my current students specifically, you know that my only intent is to provide the best I possibly can in every moment. In this moment I know there is no one who will take better care of you than Heather and Ballet West. I think one of the best gifts I’ve been able to teach you is to recognize great opportunities when they present themselves. Change doesn’t have to be hard - in fact it can be really exciting. Big risk can reap huge rewards. Don’t mourn the past - embrace this moment - take it and run with it. Ballet West and I are working hard to give you the very best transition and training possible.  Please work hard, have fun, trust your new Director, and know I’ll still be watching and cheering for you. Honor all we’ve accomplished by continuing your training and embracing this amazing opportunity.

My heart is so full and my joy is indescribable. Don’t worry I’m not done - I’m just getting started. 😉
