Today, the NJ Assembly voted unanimously to make June 10th Christina Grimmie Day going forward.

Now the bill heads to the NJ Governor's desk for approval.

June 10, 2016.

Ten years ago today, the world lost Christina Grimmie. I'd say one of the greatest voices of that generation but I will admit, I'm biased.

For the last 15 months, I have been working on a committee to lead us to this day. This past weekend, we celebrated her life with
"Grimmie Fest" -- a weekend of community and commeration of her life. The committee I worked with are AMAZING and pulled together one of the most beautiful tributes to her. I also put her father and brother out there for interviews with one or two major outlets and to say I was disappointed, would be an understatement. Many named the gunman AGAIN. No need to do that. We know there was a gunman but hey, that's what sells papers. So I won't be including links to those stories. The NJ legislature is voting tomorrow (it's last act before the bill goes to the governor) to declare June 10th (going forward) Christina Grimmie Day. And that, I'm really proud of. You know what else I'm proud of...proud to call her family my friends; proud to call her close fans my friends; proud to call the Foundation supporters my friends. These are the people who make my heart 3 times bigger. I said this past week many times to a co-committee member -- "while the Grinch may have may have had to grow three times bigger, Bud Grimmie's heart was already there."

So today, I honor Christina Grimmie. I never had the honor of knowing her. I never really watched The Voice, but oddly I do remember her audition as it was on in another room and left an impact on me. I worked on her film that was released four months after her passing. And then joined the Christina Grimmie Foundation in April 2017 -- a few days before it was publicly announced on The Voice. I've served on its board for 9+ years and represented the family this entire time. They are my family now too.

It's hard to believe that what started as a meeting between two creative women (and myself) about an idea they had, turned into this. Mind you, I was not the positive person in the room and to be clear, I was not part of the original conversation. Fortunately for them (and me), I was wrong.

Now heading into it's 7th year and with the support of the amazing Breanne Heldman -- who is a genius at Christmas connections -- here is the second wave of talent coming to New Jersey this December.
