Hello all! We are still seeking an eight year old (or around 8 ) boy (or girl that can pass as a boy) to play Bud in our production of Mothers and Sons. Rehearsals and performances will be in Platteville, and the rehearsal schedule will not be that intensive with "Bud" only needing to attend once or twice a week-the director is very open to working around schedules. Performances will be the second weekend in June. If anyone is interested please message us. Thank you! :)

Platteville Community Theatre is looking for a man and a boy for the cast of our show “Mothers and Sons”

Synopsis
Nearly twenty years after losing her son to AIDS, Katharine Gerard pays an unexpected visit to Cal Porter, her son’s former partner. Cal has since built a life with his husband, Will Ogden, and their young son, Bud. What begins as an awkward reunion becomes a deeply emotional conversation about love, grief, marriage, parenting, and how families — and the world — have changed. Mothers and Sons is moving, challenging, and often unexpectedly funny.

Characters needed

Will Ogden
Male, 30s–40s
Cal’s husband. Warm, practical, and quietly strong. A steady presence and deeply committed parent.

Bud Ogden-Porter
Male, 6-8
Cal and Will’s son. Bright, curious, and observant. Bud listens more than he speaks and often provides moments of insight, humor, and hope.
Notes for Parents — Role of Bud
• Bud appears in several short scenes and is never alone onstage
• The role involves no offensive language
• Bud does not participate directly in adult arguments
• Themes of the play include grief, family, and same-sex marriage, but Bud’s dialogue is age-appropriate
• Rehearsal schedule will be planned with school and family commitments in mind

Rehearsal to start the second week of April. Performances the first weekend in June. A portion of the net proceeds will be donated to the Southwest Wisconsin Rainbow Alliance and the shows will feature a “Pay What You Can” night.

Please message us if interested

Table Reading this Thursday

Join us this Thursday, February 19th at 7:15 pm the Rountree Gallery for a hilarious table reading of Nana’s Naughty Knickers by Katherine DiSavino

Bridget and her grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite nana in New York for the summer quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five-borough area! Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement? Will her nana get arrested – or worse – evicted?

No experience necessary. Just show up and read through the script with others.
