Just putting a post in here to keep Facebook from unpublishing my page.

Facebook tells me that this page has had 24 new views recently. Do you have questions? Are you interested? I'm actually here, but without any interested parties, this page is just going to sit here until a co-op is formed!

I know there have been some views here, so I think I'll post to entice you to ask questions and perhaps peek your interest a bit more.

I just received an email from Kim Bryant, the craft co-ordinator here at the Texas Renaissance Festival. I can't tell you enough how top notch and professional these people are. The Texas Renaissance Festival one of the biggest and most premier themed parks in the nation. They are always pushing (nicely) for the vendors to be at their best. Because when the customers are happy, they buy. And that makes us all happy and we all have a good time to boot!

In the email she listed Mickey's 10 Commandments for putting on a great experience. George Collum, the owner and founder of this show, has always had this vision as well, and has taken many good ideas from Disney.

Mickey’s 10 Commandments
By
Marty Sklar
From his book
One Little Spark! Mickey’s Ten Commandments and
The Road to Imagineering
1.Know Your Audience: Identify the prime audience for your attraction (shoppe) before you begin your design.
2.Wear Your Guests’ Shoes: Insist that your team members experience your creation the way the guests do it.
3.Organize The Flow Of People and Ideas: Make sure there is a logic and sequence in your stories (shoppe) and how your guests experience them.
4.Create A We**ie (Visual Magnet): Create visual “targets” that lead visitors clearly and logically through the experience you’ve built.
5.Communicate With Visual Literacy: Make good use of color, shape, form, texture- all the nonverbal ways of communication.
6.Avoid Overload-Create Turn-Ons: Resist the temptation to overload your audience with too much information and too many objects.
7.Tell One Story At A Time: Stick to the story line; good stories are clear, logical, and consistent.
8.Avoid Contradictions-Maintain Identity: Details in design or content that contradict one another confuse the audience about your story and its time period.
9.For Every Ounce Of Treatment, Provide A Ton Of Treat: In our business, Walt Disney said, you can educate people- but don’t tell them you’re doing it! Make it fun!
10. Keep It Up (Maintain It): In a Disney park or resort, everything must work. Poor maintenance is poor show!

i've noticed this page has had a few views in the past couple of weeks. Certainly if anyone has any questions about this please message me or post here. I'm still interested in putting together a co-op of equine artists. But it starts with here, talking, and brain storming. :)

Tell your horse artist friends about this group. Remember, this is an interactive group to discuss. I'll be returning in about a week to post more of my ideas

My name is Kerry, and I've always enjoyed drawing horses. I am a big fan of all types of medium. This group is for the exclusive purpose of discussing the idea of forming a co-op of equine artists to share a booth at The Texas Renaissance Festival each year, hopefully starting in 2016.

I have worked at this festival since 1981 and have owned and operated a booth here (and at other renaissance festivals) since 1989. This is what I do, and I'm well experienced in it. I currently have another business booth at this show. Several years ago opportunities converged to make it a possibility for me to open up another booth for just my horse art. However, I find it diffucult produce enough art by myself to make for a good shop, and my original dream was to have a co-op of artists showing equine themed art in all sorts of mediums. I would love to partner up with any number of artists that would love to join.

This show is very much into education. I also want this shop to be an education place for people about horses, the history of horses and their relationship with man over the centuries.

If you have never been to a renaissance festival before, you have never experienced the unique energy they produce, and the sales opportunity they offer. The Texas Renaissance Festival (www.texrenfest.com), was voted the #1 Cultural Event of 2015 by USA Today, beating out Madri Gras and The Kentucky Derby. Last year almost half a million people passed through its gates in 19 days. This festival is a good one.

Please ask to join if selling your art at the biggest renaissance festival in the country sounds interesting to you. There is no obligation. This group is closed, so that only members see the posts, and it is solely for the private discussion of the business ins and outs of how to create such a co-op of artists. We will talk about displays, who can work, who wants to send their art, percentages, where the money goes, forming a bank account and writing of partnership papers and/or contracts. Share this with your friends. The more, the merrier, and the more we have, the easier the workload on each member.

The Texas Renaissance Festival is one of the largest, most acclaimed Renaissance fairs in Texas and offers themed festival events for 8 weekends in the Fall.
