Four Plano ISD students have earned the Texas Theatre Scholar Award from the Texas Thespians for the 2025–2026 school year! 👏

This honor recognizes students who shine both in the classroom and on the stage, showing excellence, discipline and a true passion for theatre.

We are so proud of Matilde for this outstanding achievement!

As we head into break, please join the Department in celebrating Plano Senior High School Theatre's 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒆 𝑹𝒐𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒛-𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔, who was selected to be a 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

This is an incredibly competitive program with a rigorous process that included multiple rounds of applications, interviews, and presentations, all of which Matilde navigated wonderfully!

Out of hundreds of applicants statewide, only 24 were selected for leadership, and only 12 earned the title of Student Ambassador. Matilde will spend next year advocating for theatre education both here, at the State Capitol and all across Texas, on top of being a top-ranked student here at PSHS!

We are incredibly proud of her efforts and of her selection with Texas Thespians!🎭🎭🎭🎖️🎖️🎖️

CAST SPOTLIGHT- CLAY WHEELER

Clay Wheeler (Chasuble) is delighted to be returning with Shakespeare Dallas where credits include Taming of the Shrew, Complete Works Abridged, The Winter’s Tale and many others. Selected local credits include Pastry King with The Elevator Project/SZ Productions, A Doll’s House with WaterTower Theatre, Seminar with Theatre Three. He is a voice actor for Crunchyroll. He has a BFA in Theatre Performance from Baylor University. He is a founding member of The Laugh Supper comedy troupe and MC DFW. He is proud to be the Theatre Director at his alma mater, Plano Senior High School. He’d like to thank Jen, Winnie, Junie, and Tootie for lending him out for the summer.

We are proud to recognize the recipients of the 2025 Miss Ida Wellsman Scholarship for Theatre Excellence, Ava Miller and Reagan Huffstutler! Each student was awarded $500 towards their education to continue studying theatre in college. A big thank you to Gregory Arp for managing the scholarship process and for keeping the spirit of Miss Ida alive!
