Former Rep Shows: A Chorus Line and Hello, Dolly

What is your favorite part/song in this show? My favorite part is the “Somewhere” sequence because of the style of dancing. It brings a really unique element to the story.

How is the show relevant today? It’s a timeless story with themes that people still resonate with today, making it just as impactful now as when it first premiered!

West Side Story is such an iconic show, and I’m so excited to be a part of it. I’m especially looking forward to all the dancing and the opportunity to perform such good choreography while helping bring this story to life.

Favorite song in this show? “Gee, Officer Krupke”

Why is West Side Story still relevant to today’s audience? West Side Story’s core message encourages us to choose understanding and compassion over conflict. Through the characters audiences are reminded to have compassion and empathy for others rather than judging them based on their background or differences.

Brody Kostyszyn (Action)
Hometown: McKinney TX
College: Syracuse (rising sophomore)
NTPA Rep Debut

What is your favorite part/song in this show? I love the finale, Bernstein’s score tells a story just as important as the script and nowhere is that more prevalent than the music within the finale.

Why is West Side Story relevant to today’s audience? Everyone has something to take from this piece even almost 70 years later.

Luke Matthews (Baby John)
Hometown: Grapevine

Few songs are as touching as Leonard Bernstein's "One Hand, One Heart" - paired with Sondheim's lyrics, it becomes almost sacred. Set against West Side Story's mounting violence, it's a breathtaking pocket of stillness: two young lovers, hands clasped, vowing that even death won't part us now. Pure, fearless, Shakespearean — and utterly devastating.

Don't miss your chance to experience West Side Story with this incredible cast and live orchestra! Tickets online https://ntparep.org/shows/westsidestory/
