There is something incredibly special about witnessing students share work that comes from curiosity, honesty, experimentation, and instinct.

We created this showcase because we believe young artists should have the space to ask their own questions, take risks, and think differently. This showcase is an invitation to bring your ideas into a shared space, whether you are still discovering your voice, trying something new, or quietly creating work you have been wanting people to experience.

If you are a dancer, writer, musician, actor, photographer, or visual artist, we would love to see what you have been making.

We hope this becomes a space for connection, conversation, and creative exchange between young artists from different disciplines and backgrounds.

If this speaks to you, send in your work. We’re excited to experience it with you. ✨ Apply through the link below:

Great morning with the Leadership Plano Class 42!

We were honored to participate in an arts panel discussion alongside such remarkable arts leaders Lupita Tinnen (Moderator, Collin College Fine Arts), Suzy Jones (Art Centre of Plano and Garage Arts Project), Tom Venner (Board of several nonprofits), Darrell Rodenbaugh (North Texas Performing Arts), and Dolly Thomas (Plano African American Museum).

In the room, we talked about volunteering, collaboration, and what it means to contribute to our community through the arts. The questions were thoughtful, and seeing emerging leaders who genuinely care about Plano’s cultural future was everything.

Thank you for inviting Garage Arts Project to be part of this conversation. We can’t wait to see what you all do next. 🙌

We’re so excited to begin our GAP Featured Artists series by featuring someone whose work is beautiful, Bhargavi Sardesai.

A Kathak artist, choreographer, and educator, Bhargavi’s practice lives in that compelling space between tradition and exploration. Rooted in the rigor and nuance of Kathak, and shaped by over 16 years of training under Guru Pandita Shama Bhate, her work carries both lineage and inquiry, honouring what has been, while asking what more is possible.

As part of her choreographic journey, we invite you to watch Embroidered Shrouds of Modesty on YouTube, a powerful work that reflects her layered, questioning approach to storytelling.

Through this series, we hope to bring you closer to artists like Bhargavi, whose practices continue to expand how we see, understand, and engage with movement. The process was shaped by working with dancers unfamiliar with Kathak, requiring the movement to be translated and re embodied, allowing traditional vocabulary and contemporary movement to meet and shift through each body.

Stay with us as we continue to share more voices, more journeys, and more conversations.

Perspective changes everything.
Somewhere out there, we are impossibly small.

And yet here, in our everyday lives,
we make ourselves smaller than necessary.

Today feels like a good day to notice that.

Some evenings stay with you long after the curtain falls.

This one was full of moments that make you catch your breath without quite knowing why. There were no big speeches, no neat conclusions but plenty of honest, aching explorations of what it means to hold onto people, to be held by them, and to live in the spaces where language fails us.

Through the Dissonance captured friendship in all its complicated tenderness. Kismet with Kali gave us a mother and daughter fumbling toward each other across an invisible divide. Walking out, you weren’t exactly sure how you felt. But you knew you felt something. And maybe that was the whole point.

This month in our Art Form of the Month series, we’re exploring the Native American flute, a traditional instrument known for its soft, breathy tones and deeply meditative quality 🎶

A Native flute performance is intimate and evocative. Rooted in Indigenous traditions of North America, it is an art form that invites reflection, storytelling, and stillness.

It was truly special to experience this sense of calm and connection at our flagship festival, Bridges and as part of Good Morning Texas by Vincent Moon.

Do you know someone who plays the Native flute? Tag them below, we would love to say hello!

And don’t forget to check out the tagged artists. ✨

What a meaningful gathering at State of the Arts 2026. Thank you to Collaborative Arts of Plano and the Plano Chamber of Commerce for creating space where businesses and artists could connect and imagine together. We loved being there with our student volunteer - Isha Koushik, sharing what Garage Arts Project brings to our community and hearing from so many who care about arts thriving here.

We’re thrilled to welcome Olivia to the GAP board!

Olivia is an award-winning, nationally published photographer whose eye for storytelling and gift for connection make her a perfect fit for our community. As our new Community & Development Director, she’ll help us expand our reach, deepen our relationships, and share the stories of the artists and communities we serve.

Olivia’s career, and from photojournalism to magazine editing to founding her own practice, reflects the same values that drive GAP: authenticity, craftsmanship, and the power of visual narrative to move people. Beyond her professional work, she’s an active volunteer in the North Texas arts ecosystem and current board member at Visual Arts Guild Frisco.

Welcome, Olivia! We can’t wait to create with you.
