What could be better than being able to create something from nothing? Too much creative energy, never satisfied, always searching, questioning, making things. Cluttering up their rooms with piles of collected “stuff” that contain myriad possibilities of being turned into “something”. Always looking for a way to make their presence felt and in my case (my case being the middle child of six) findin
g it difficult to attain that notoriety (read “attention”) except for my art. Commandered every pencil, every scrap of paper, in an endless search for perfection. And so the artist also became an illustrator. Soaked up all those influences, none too ancient or bizarre. No medium was left unturned, no style untried. With a BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design from the University of Lowell, MA, came versatility in numerous mediums, a mature personal style, a never ending quest for another drawing, painting, photo, any unexpected approach. The possibilities are endless. I have been working in colored pencil for many years and also love working in graphite, acrylics, oils, pastels, and pen and ink. I also love creating paintings and collage digitally in Painter and Photoshop. Creating human and pet portraits is such a pleasure. Love the joy they bring to the recipients! When I'm not busy making new art, I'm working in graphic design in my studio, teaching drawing classes or filling the bird feeders. I live with my wonderful husband in an ancient New England home, with a stream running through the back yard, together with wild turkeys and a few deer. We have one cat, and a long-haired German Shepherd. Wandering the woods or beach and snapping reference photos wherever we go, gives me plenty of inspiration. Gardening and filling our home with fresh flowers also makes my day.
