*ANNOUNCEMENT TIME*

Familiar Friends is evolving. You may (or may not) have noticed that my handle has changed to .embree

I have been working diligently on lots of creative projects outside the realm of animal portraits, and the time has come to expand my art practice into a fuller version of my creative self. To honor this, Familiar Friends will be evolving into D.S. Embree.

In early January of next year, you will get to see my amazing new website designed by .studios and I’ll start to unveil the full extent of my inner magical wizard weirdo.

And for those of you that love my animal portraits, fear not! I am still fully committed to animal portrait commissions.

I will be entering hibernation mode for the rest of the year as I finish up some creative projects and tweak the details on my new site.

I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to.

My Story

Once upon a time, a wayward kid living in Oakland, CA met a magical person with two black cats. He fell in love with all of them (the person in a romantic kind of way, the cats in a fluffy kind of way). They filled his heart with magic and love and eventually inspired him to start making art again. Now that wayward kid is a proud father living his dreams and using his artistic abilities to honor the animal spirits of the world.
