Pocket Groove Studios

Pocket Groove Studios Recording studio in Naperville, IL Today's recording technology has evened the playing field between professional facilities and home studios.

In the May 2010 Guitar Center monthly magazine, professional recording engineer Scott Humphrey said " People can make tracks that sound amazing these days. If you have one good mic preamp, the appropriate mic, and a good basic setup for recording one or two channels, you pretty much have the same thing as a professional studio has... all you need is one really good signal chain to put everything through."

For anyone who is into contemporary Christian music, here is an EP my church just finished writing and recording after starting almost five years ago. I got to play drums on these songs and I also recorded most of them too. I am proud of how they turned out. Check them out here:

In June of 2022, one of my best buddies and former bandmates, Chris Brown, came into town for work. He let me know he was in town and asked if I wanted to grab dinner. I told him to come over and meet my son for the first time and see my newly finished recording studio. He came over at 5:00 and we ended up recording an idea he had for a song. About 11 hours and 11 drinks later, we called it a night. The next morning (afternoon) we woke up and decided to record one more song he had written. That song was called “Blue,” and is the song I am sharing. Chris came into town 2 days/week for the next six months and we ended up recording a full album. We got Ryan Hammer to play bass and guitar and mandolin, Julia Jenkins to play violin and Jay Olaszek to play bass on a few tracks and lay down some background vocals. The funny thing is, nobody was ever in the same room together other than me and whoever was recording. It was pieced together by 5 friends just coming to my house to add their parts. The best part was hanging out and being creative with all of my favorite people. A year and a few months later and we are just finishing up the first few songs off the album. ”Blue” is the first single and I am really excited to share the rest of the album when it is finished. Please enjoy “Blue” by Chris Brown.

A month ago I had the chance to make some noise with my buddies from my first band that we started back in 1994. This was our first band practice in about 25 years. We also re-recorded some old original tunes. This was the result. Check it out!

My dad Ed (Zeppelin) Bitautas just finished a 6-month project where he performed, edited and recorded audio and video of himself playing some jazz standards he learned 45 years ago while studying with some jazz greats in Chicago. Back in September, I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with guitar player Michael Britt, from the famous band Lonestar. He is also well known for being the best “profiler” for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. So I brought my very rare Komet Constellation 30 tube amp to Nashville for Mike to profile for me and eventually sell to the world. Best of all, my good buddies John Wills and Zach Mikus from Play and Trade Guitars were there to hang out and film the entire experience. Here it is.
