Claire is a movement artist and educator whose practice draws together dance, internal martial arts, Chinese medicine, and theater. A certifying teacher of the Axis Syllabus, she has trained in Qigong, Taijiquan, and Baguazhang since 2010, and has spent years teaching movement in settings ranging from a Toronto college of traditional Chinese medicine to a seniors center in Guelph. Across all of it, her throughline stays the same: movement and healing practices as a way to deepen awareness, honor the integrity of the body, and open new possibility between people.
At the Nomadic College, she teaches Phase One: Common Ground with "TO-GATHER," a session drawing a parallel between the earth's tilt and orbit and the tilt and rotation within human movement. Framed by autumn as a season of gathering, the class moves into questions of assembly and agreement — dancing with design, and moving with the season.
Claire is one of several faculty teaching across the program's two phases, Common Ground and Fractalicious, running September 30 through October 11.
