🎬 THIS MONDAY: It's Closing Night — and what a way to finish 40 years of BJFF.

🕞 3:30 PM — SAPIRO V. FORD: THE JEW WHO SUED HENRY FORD
1927. Aaron Sapiro — a Jewish orphan who became one of America's most celebrated lawyers — walked into a Detroit courtroom and sued Henry Ford, the most powerful antisemite in America, for libel. The trial involved mysterious car accidents, bribery accusations, and a nation riveted by the spectacle of one man demanding a titan of industry account for his hatred. As antisemitism surges globally today, this forgotten chapter of American history has never felt more urgent.

🌆 7:30 PM — THE RING (Closing Film)
Arnon Noble's mother, a Holocaust survivor, has told the same story for years: how a thin gold ring saved both their lives. When her health begins to fail, Arnon travels from Israel to Budapest to find that ring — and invites his estranged daughter to join him. Part Holocaust drama, part road-trip caper, part multigenerational love story. Written by and starring Adir Miller, based on his own family history. A perfect close to a landmark year.

🎬 THIS MONDAY at BJFF: A heist. A rescue. Both absolutely true.

🕞 3:30 PM — THE STAMP THIEF
When a former Seinfeld writer discovers that a rogue N**i officer stole priceless stamp collections from Holocaust victims and buried them in a Polish basement, he hatches a plan: use a fake movie shoot as cover and track them down. Part detective thriller, part heist film — and every bit of it is real. Gary Gilbert's quest to recover stolen history and return it to its rightful heirs is unlike anything you've seen.

🌆 7:30 PM — FRONTIER
The Spanish Pyrenees, 1943. Manel Grau is a principled customs officer under Franco's regime — until the day the border is sealed to Jewish refugees fleeing N**i-occupied France. What he chooses to do next will put everything he loves at risk. Based on true events, Frontier is a moving WWII drama that reminds us: in history's darkest hours, it is often ordinary people who choose courage over silence.

🎬 THIS MONDAY at BJFF: History buried, and history uncovered.

🕞 3:30 PM — AMONG NEIGHBORS
A Polish town. Centuries of Jewish and Catholic coexistence. And then a massacre,not under N**i occupation, but months after Germany's defeat. This powerful documentary plays like a real-life murder mystery, following two remarkable people who break decades of silence: one of the last living Jewish survivors from the town, and an 85-year-old woman who witnessed the killings as a teenager and now risks imprisonment to finally tell the truth. Bold, haunting, and essential.

🌆 7:30 PM — DUST BOWLS AND JEWISH SOULS: ANOTHER SIDE OF WOODY GUTHRIE
Did you know Woody Guthrie once wrote a Hanukkah song? This utterly surprising documentary uncovers the deep bond between the legendary folk singer and his mother-in-law, renowned Yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt , and how Jewish history quietly wove itself into the American folk songbook. Come for the wonderful stories. Stay for Arlo Guthrie calling his grandmother "Bubbe." 🎵

🎬 THIS MONDAY at BJFF: Stories of courage, love, and women who changed history.

🕞 3:30 PM
We open with "Double Happiness" — a charming short about a Jewish widow and a Chinese restaurateur who find unexpected late-in-life romance. Then: LABORS OF LOVE: HENRIETTA SZOLD. Long overlooked, Henrietta Szold was one of the most remarkable women in modern history — founder of Hadassah, builder of healthcare systems in pre-state Israel, and the woman who led Youth Aliyah to rescue thousands of Jewish children from N**i-occupied Europe. A Peabody Award-winning director brings her extraordinary story to life.

First, "Beshert" — a heartwarming short (the Yiddish word for "destiny") about a grumpy care home resident and a reluctant bar mitzvah boy who develop an unlikely friendship. Then: MY UNDERGROUND MOTHER. Twenty years after her mother's death, a journalist discovers the woman she thought she knew had hidden a secret identity — and a past as a teenage prisoner in a N**i forced labor camp. A secret journal written by the camp's teenage prisoners unlocks a haunting and largely untold chapter of Holocaust history.

🎬 THIS MONDAY at BJFF: Two films that will leave you breathless.

🕞 3:30 PM — THE ROAD BETWEEN US
On October 7, 2023, retired Israeli general Noam Tibon receives a desperate WhatsApp message: his son, daughter-in-law, and two young granddaughters are trapped in a panic room on their kibbutz as gunfire closes in. With no military rescue coming, Noam and his wife arm themselves and drive ten harrowing hours through a country under siege. Told through raw footage and firsthand testimony, this is a testament to the ferocity of a parent's love.

Iranian judo athlete Leila arrives at the World Judo Championships on the verge of winning her country's first-ever gold medal. Then her government delivers a chilling ultimatum: withdraw, or be branded a traitor. 🎬 THIS MONDAY: It's Opening Night — and we're celebrating 40 years in style!

BJFF 2026 kicks off on July 6th with two screenings you won't want to miss.

3:30 PM
The program begins with "Our Neighbor's Ass," a charming comedy-drama short about a widow and her late husband's mischievous donkey. Next is the feature ROSENTHAL: THE GREAT SHOWMAN. Set in 1978, it follows West Germany's beloved TV host, Hans Rosenthal, as he confronts a buried past during his show's anniversary, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of Kristallnacht. This gripping morality play offers a moving portrait of survival and memory..

7:30 PM
"The Stage is Ours" celebrates a century of Jewish storytelling with fifty legendary Broadway voices. Following this is TOVAH, a biography of the phenomenal Tovah Feldshuh. This film honors her five-decade career on stage and screen—from her Broadway portrayal of Golda Meir to her recent Netflix success—highlighting a life committed to her craft.
