This Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company monumental Moorish chandelier, circa 1892, from the First Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, New York, leaded and Favrile glass, hand-faceted jewels, and bronze, boasts a 72" drop and is 38" in diameter.

According to Fontaine's Auction Gallery, “This chandelier is one of the earliest surviving examples of Tiffany’s use of leaded-glass panels that enclose a light source. The listing photographs for the lot show the chandelier in situ at the Church and the original sales receipts. Dating to the earliest phase of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s lighting production, works from this period formed the foundation of what later became known as Tiffany Studios.”

Commissioned directly by the church from Tiffany Studios, it sold for $500,000 (est. $300,000/500,000) at Fontaine's Auction Gallery
