Return of the City of Pittsfield’s Summer Playground Program

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (July 6, 2022) – The city of Pittsfield Department of Community Development Recreation Program has announced the return of the Parks Summer Playground Program at three city parks for six weeks beginning Monday, July 11.

The Summer Playground Program offers a wide variety of recreation activities for Pittsfield children ages 6 to 13 free of charge. Playground leaders create safe, supervised and fun-filled environments with activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, and nature activities.

Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The program runs through Friday, Aug. 19. Playground leaders will be stationed at Clapp Park, Durant Park and The Common. The program is designed to provide “drop-in” activities for children and is not a substitute for day camp or childcare.

“The Summer Playground Program offers even more than a fun time – it fosters self-esteem and friendships and provides participants with positive and caring role models,” says Becky Manship, recreation and special events coordinator. “It lets parents feel good about sending their children to their neighborhood playground, knowing that there will be supervision.”

As the tears flow:
As I sit here think and cry.
My life is a journey into time:
The young crazy one who didn’t care.
To the older version without no hair:
The chapters of life are so hard and bitter.
The complications will not make me a quitter:
To remain strong in ones head.
Is to travel on until the very end:
As my life changes and continues to flow.
It’s like a plant that continues to grow:
The answers are from deep inside.
We must feel to help us unwind:
So love often and always forgive.
Because life is short and has no give:
Remember to remain humble and true.
As once the tears flow you only have you:
Be good to yourself and always remember.
That without your feelings life really don’t matter: Let the tears flow and continue to thrive. When it’s all over you will be grateful to be alive:

Our Souls Collide:
It started so innocent, kind and sweet. The way that we communicated was such a real treat:
The honesty and compassion could never be denied. For we are two people lost in a life.
But as we talked more my heart started to see. My life was a mess, but it wasn’t just me:
So we helped each other through as only we could. From the pain that’s within as all true friends should:
Yes we our so different but it’s ok. Because together we will work to find our way:
Then we talk again and the world slows its pace. It feels good so we must be in the right place:
As our journey begins to turn, twist, and slide. I know it will be ok as our souls collide:

MY FRIENDS AND I

To all my true friends that helped me get by:
The ones that understand what it takes to survive.

I was in my own head and way to deep:
I spent my nights without much sleep.

But there you were so thoughtful and true:
Excepting me for feeling so dam blue.

I thank you all for being so sweet and kind:
With your help i'm still here and alive.

And although this journey is far from over:
My mind and it's thoughts now have no power.

It's only us who chose the way that we feel;
Not others who use evil ways and try to steal.

My friends and i might be the only ones that understand:
That is why we will always be so grateful until the end.

And when it's all over, and on our own terms:
That's when our life's will except the dam germs.

So as for now we will try to be happy:
Because we're done felling so crappy.

Your fantasy girl is kind and sweet: She's the one that most men would love to meet.
She struts on by just crossing your path: As your mind starts to wonder if she's even a fact.
So thoughtful and caring she's every mans dream: And while she's in the bedroom oh how she loves to scream.
The thought of he will drive you insane: The things you could do will make you pay.
The price will be much worth the ride: Enjoy the moment as you look into her eyes.
She's the one that was sent from above: To make your life so full of love.
Your so much alike as only you two can see: Both a bit crazy for one and another's needs.
Your life will now become so wild: As she continues to show you her true style.
Just enjoy it all because this don't happen: Only in ones dreams is there this much passion.
So as it grows be ready to live: As she is the one who loves to give.
Your happiness together will continue to sore: Because endless love is forever more.

We love you our Sarah for who you are;
We're proud at how you have traveled so far.
Through so much pain but never losing your sight;
You found your family and for that you fight.

Life has never been easy for you my niece;
We hope our home has given you some peace.
We're so glad to have you back in our lives;
You have opened our hearts and made everything feel right.

When you moved here so much was unknown;
But now that you're here our lives have grown.
You help us all to laugh and be the best that we can;
As we watch you get through your life without a plan.

You have made us stronger and proud to be here;
Our hope is that you know just how much we care.
No matter what ever happens you will always have our love;
We will never leave you stranded or feeling alone.

Just say the words and we will always be near;
To help guide you through these sometimes troubled years.
And as you age and get on your feet;
Always remember you've made our family complete.

Brand new poem
SMILE:
She smiles through all of her pain.
Trying to stay above the fray:
Her heart hurts as her mind spins.
She can't stop thinking and so it begins:
The emptiness that she feels deep inside.
Is so dam painful that she sits and cries:
The sadness she feel is all so real.
Her depression causing her to fear:
Will she survive to fake smile again.
Or will her time come to reach the end:
She prays day and night just to be ok
Her life is a mess and that won't go away:
She wakes up just to smile a little bit more.
Even though she struggles to open the door:
She wears her smile just like a mask.
Trying to hide everything in her past:
We hope someday that her smile is true.
So she can feal much better and not be so blue:
All she can do is smile and continue her fight.
Then someday her life might inprove and be alright:

THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS:
As Christmas approaches and the time is near; The day Jesus was born and all families share.
Be grateful for all your family and friends; Forgive all your enemies as you hope they mend.
This is the time to be loving,thoughtful and caring;
So let the negative stuff go and try to be sharing.
Hug your children,friends and family too;
Life can be humble and make things blue.
Pray for the less fortunate and the ones in need;
Give what you can to help them get by and eat.
If we all love each other life can get better;
It is so simple to help make someone matter.
As life moves forward remember why we're all here;
Just be there for someone as they go through something that's hard to bare.
To love one another with every bit of your heart;
So enjoy your Christmas and make a fresh start.
