Bossov Ballet Theatre at MCI

Bossov Ballet Theatre at MCI Bossov Ballet Theatre at Maine Central Institute is both a performing company and an international pre-professional ballet school.

Bossov Ballet Theatre at Maine Central Institute

The Bossov troupe includes dancers of many ages and levels of experience. Dancers who attend MCI during the school day are eligible to receive full academic credit for ballet training. All BBT students, regardless of whether or not they attend MCI, train after school and with professional dancers who come to BBT to appear in guest roles. The exper

ience of performing on stage with large casts of older and younger dancers is an invaluable opportunity for aspiring dancers. BBT founders named the theatre and school for Andrei Bossov, the company's first Artistic Director. He is a 20-year veteran of performing internationally with St. Petersburg's Kirov Ballet, in which he attained ballet's highest rank, Principal Dancer, at the early age of twenty-one, only two years after joining the company. Only five percent of the company's dancers were carried as principals and only one percent of all who auditioned for the Kirov when Bossov auditioned were accepted.

โœจ Just a few more days...

As we prepare to welcome a new group of dancers to the 2026 Bossov Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive, we wanted to share a moment from last year's final performance.

Over two weeks, students from across the United States, Mexico, Japan, and Brazil will come together at Maine Central Institute to train, create, perform, and challenge themselves in the studio.

The Summer Intensive has always been one of our favorite times of the year โ€” a chance to build friendships across cultures, work intensely on artistic growth, and create something meaningful in a very short period of time.

This video features an original choreography by Artistic Director Natalya Getman, performed during last summer's final presentation at the Collins Center for the Arts

We are excited to begin another chapter next week and can't wait to share the journey of this year's dancers with all of you.

Stay tuned as we welcome this year's Summer Intensive dancers! ๐Ÿฉฐ

Thank you to everyone who came to support our final BBT presentation on Friday, and also to those who joined us through the livestream from different parts of the world.

We are very happy with the result and incredibly grateful for such a warm, supportive audience. Moments like this remind us why live performance and community matter so much.

This presentation also marked the graduation from MCI of our senior dancers:
โœจ Sofรญa Antonio Bella (Brazil)
โœจ Sofรญa Ferzuli Rangel (Mexico)
โœจ Cole Lessard (Maine, USA)

We are very proud of all three of you and grateful for everything you have brought to the studios, rehearsals, and stage throughout these years.

And nowโ€ฆ after closing one chapter, we are already looking forward to another. Summer Intensive begins in just a couple of weeks, and we cannot wait to fill the studios again.

Thank you all for an amazing year.

For those unable to attend live, we will be sharing our final presentation through our YouTube channel:

The presentation will begin at 3:00 pm, after Senior Chapel, in the Powers Hall at Founders on the MCI campus.

For those attending in person, please keep in mind that space in the studio is limited, and some streets around campus will be closed, so parking could be a little more complicated than usual. We recommend arriving early if possible.

This recognition honors commitment, discipline, artistic growth, and contribution to the community around them.

One of the most meaningful aspects of BBT has always been watching students from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds come together through a shared artistic language and purpose.

We are very proud of these three dancers and grateful for everything they bring into the studio and beyond every day.

Congratulations! ๐ŸŒฟ

Today, on International Dance Day, we look back.

Not at individual moments, but at what forms when dancers come together โ€” across years, across generations, across cultures.
Each image holds a different cast, a different group, a different moment in time.
But the thread is the same: a shared discipline, a shared language, a shared commitment to something that only exists when it is done together.
Dance, at its core, is not solitary.
It is built in the studio, sustained in rehearsal, and revealed on stage โ€” through the presence of others.
And behind it all, there is a lineageโ€ฆ
To the teachers who carry the torch, who hold, shape, and pass on the work with care, love and passion: THANK YOU!

Our Ballet 2 group, a committed and focused group of young dancers, ages 9โ€“12.

Each week, they work through classical technique and character, building a strong foundation rooted in the Vaganova method. Soon, they will begin their first pointe classes โ€” an important step in their training.

The BBT Afternoon Program has always been an essential part of our structure. It offers students the opportunity to train seriously in the evenings, regardless of where they attend school, while maintaining the same standards and approach that define Bossov Ballet Theatre.

For many, it is both a place to grow and a pathway into the MCI year-round program.

Today we welcomed members of the Valley Arts Alliance of Maine into our studio.

Dancers and visual artists sharing the same space โ€” observing, interpreting, and responding to movement through drawing, painting, and photography. A quiet exchange of disciplines, centered on lines, gestures, forms, presence and atmosphere.

Thank you to those who joined us. Itโ€™s always valuable to allow different artistic languages to meet.

Different mediums, same pursuit of expression.
