We're wrapping up the No Consequence Artist Spotlight with a great version of “𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻” 𝗯𝘆 𝗢𝘇𝘇𝘆 𝗢𝘀𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲 from the Randy Rhoads era.

The band absolutely delivers on this one, and judging by the reaction, the audience at Jergels loved it too. 🤘

This era of Ozzy has always been a little special to me. As a teenager, I actually had the opportunity to meet 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗥𝗵𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 when he came to Pittsburgh for the Diary Of A Madman Tour. I sat in a room with about 20 other local musicians, listened to him play and talk, and even got to ask him a couple of questions.

It was only a few months before he died in a plane crash.

So yeah...I definitely enjoyed hearing No Consequence pull this one out that night.

🎸 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗟 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧: 𝗡𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 – 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝟯 𝗢𝗙 𝟰 - 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 - 𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗛, 𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗗𝗬 𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗛

Every rock fan loves some 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵, and “𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵” really showcases the talent in this band.

This isn't an easy song to pull off — nearly six minutes with plenty going on musically — and No Consequence absolutely delivers.

And keep in mind, they're doing this with fill-in drummer Noah Morrison, who had only ONE practice with the band before taking the stage that night.

Pretty damn impressive. 🤘

It's been a long time since I've heard a band cover “𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘁” by Jefferson Airplane — and this one was worth the wait.

No Consequence puts their own heavier edge on the song without really changing the structure of what made the original so great.

And 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗲'𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲.

Definitely worth turning up and giving a listen. 🤘

🎸 I recently caught up with Pittsburgh hard rock band No Consequence at Jergels in Warrendale, where they were opening for Eyes of the Nile - Iron Maiden Tribute.

The band had a last-minute fill-in drummer, Noah Morrison, with only ONE practice beforehand — and they didn't miss a beat. Noah even joined our conversation from just outside the camera shot. 😆

We talked about the band's longtime friendships, what's coming up next, and vocalist 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗲 (Theosevia Demertzis), who simply has one hell of a powerful voice.

I also asked the guys what it's like playing in a band with a female singer...then asked Evie what it's like playing in a band with all guys.

That part got interesting. 😂

We're wrapping up the Broom Artist Spotlight with two songs!

First up is "𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝘆 𝗤𝗕𝟭 (𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆)," Broom's emotional tribute to former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. The song earned Broom the top spot in 102.5 WDVE 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝘁𝘀𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. 🏆

Then Broom turns up the volume with their take on the Judas Priest classic "𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄." 🤘

Two very different songs—and a pretty good example of what you can expect when you catch Broom live.

Here's one for those who remember the local rock scene back in the '80s. 🤘

Broom reaches back into Pittsburgh-area rock history with their version of "Look Out For The Night," originally recorded by Axtion, an '80s hard rock band from the Pittsburgh/Belle Vernon area.

"𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁" was also the title of 𝗔𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 self-released album.

I love that Broom digs into songs like this—not just the same classic rock covers you hear everywhere, but songs with a connection to our own local music history.

I caught up with Pittsburgh rock band Broom at Dead Head Winery in Monongahela for the latest Steel City Talks Artist Spotlight.

Sometimes you have to start an interview twice. 😁 About two minutes into our conversation, everything decided to shut down... so we started over and had a little fun with it.

Once we actually got rolling, we talked about how the band came up with the name 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺, their brand-new album "𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱," and their album release party at The Coal Mine, where the guys decided that business suits and ties were the appropriate attire for a rock show. 😎

We also got into something I've always liked about Broom—their choice of older cover songs and the way they put their own spin on them. It's an approach I've always appreciated: songs people know, but songs you don't hear every band playing.

And, of course, we talked about what's next for Broom following the release of the new album.
