Folk Faktory

Folk Faktory A folk ensemble dedicated to the preservation of Eastern European folklore. However, it has since evolved into a performance-oriented ensemble.

Founded in 2010 and comprised of Duquesne University Tamburitzan Alumni, Folk Faktory was originally created as an outlet for it's members love of dance and to maintain their cultural and social connections. Folk Faktory is under the direction of Richard Balazs and Bilyana Stoyanova-Stafura.

Folk Faktory would like to thank Hajnalka Guti and Lajos Hunor Izsó for sharing their talents, teaching and dancing with us over the last six months. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from these two professionals. They weren’t just our instructors but also became our friends embracing our own Folk Faktory culture. We hope to work with them again in the future!

Join us at this year's first Community Workshop - Hungarian Dance in the Szilágysági style - brought to you in partnership with the Hungarian Folklife Association.

On Nov. 1st, 2025 The Tamburitzans Cultural Center will transform once again into község of dance and fellowship, where all dance lovers are invited to jump in to learn about this exciting art form. Whether you've been dancing for years or you'd like to try something new - all are welcome at this and any Tamburitzans Community Workshop.

Time: 11AM - 2PM for beginners, 5PM - 8PM for intermediate/advanced

Dear friends, as some of you already heard, after a long break, Folk Faktory is reopening its doors. Former Tammies, experienced dancers if you would like to join or rejoin please come to our first practice this Thursday at 7:30 PM. Practices are held at the Tamburitzan Cultural Center on Superior Ave in Pittsburgh. Besides dancing, we will also discuss what exciting things are in store for us in the upcoming months.
