I took a long break from posting. I share a lot of stories but haven't posted anything about my process or work in a while. Now I'm back and wanted to start by taking the time to properly introduce myself!
Hello! My name is Britney Smith and I'm the maker behind the work of Britney Smith Ceramics. I live in Pittsburgh with my partner, son, and two cats! Currently, I juggle my time between two ceramic based jobs and my studio practice. It gets hard and overwhelming sometimes but it's really rewarding doing the thing I love to do, working in and talking about clay!
I handbuild all of my work. It's slow moving but I love the process. It's what gets me pumped about making things. To me it's like putting puzzle pieces together to create three dimensional forms, figuring out how the pieces fit is exciting to me.
Three favorite non-clay related things are camping, true crime podcasts, and the excitement on my son's face when he learns something new (the look never gets old haha).
I'm so happy to be sharing my journey with so many of you! Thank you for following along!
