We need to correct the record because silence lets lies stand.
The facts:
There WAS a shooting at Luckys. To say otherwise is false. It happened on their property, on the deck.
The shooter was inside the bar for about 30 minutes before the shooting. That is not "someone running past." He was a patron, he was served, and he was present. Bar patrons WERE involved.
It did not begin "somewhere in the Strip District" with someone running away. That is speculation being used to distance the bar from what happened on their deck, on their watch.
We are all praying for the victim and their family. That should be the first thing we say. But prayers without accountability mean nothing.
As community leaders, our job is to protect our own and to tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. That means we have to call out Luckys for lying and downplaying this. Saying "there was no shooting in the bar" and "patrons were not involved" is an attempt to dodge responsibility and it puts everyone else at risk.
We cannot let a business mislead the public to protect its reputation while our community is left to deal with the trauma and danger.
We need to speak up, support the victim and the people who were there, and demand that Luckys take full responsibility, cooperate with police, and make real changes to keep people safe.
Stop spreading misinformation. The truth matters.
