As a framer I feel a kinship with anyone working behind the scenes in the art world, so I was pleased when the lead contractor behind Cinthia Marcelle’s “Green Hall Annex” reached out to us to frame some gifts for his crew. Marcelle’s large scale installation, now on display at the 59th Carnegie International Carnegie Museum of Art , features planes of green carpet identical to the carpet found in Brazil’s capital. We have been framing many silk scarves lately, but this one is the largest by far at 57” x 57” (swipe for scale)! We found the perfect linen mat but could not accommodate the size without splicing the board. Our client, Interior Arts , suggested we conceal the seams with gimp and now I’m loving this custom detail.
