Hill District entrepreneurs and small business owners, our monthly Small Business Hours are back for September! Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow an established business, connect one-on-one with local experts who can help you take your next step.

🌿 We’re Taking a Short Break!

The Hill CDC team will be out of the office from August 31 through September 7.

Our team works hard year-round to serve the Hill District, and we’re taking some much-needed time to refresh so we can return ready to keep the work moving forward. 💚

Thank you for your continued support of the Hill CDC and the work we do throughout the neighborhood. We truly appreciate our residents, partners, and supporters who help make it all possible.

We’ll be back in full effect next week, refreshed and ready to go! ✨

🥕 September Community Food Distribution! 🥬

Our monthly Community Food Distribution is back this September! Hill District residents are invited to join us at Nafasi on Centre for FREE food distribution.

Food will be distributed first come, first served, so we encourage neighbors to arrive early. Please remember to bring your own tote bag or carry box to take your items home.

Community members took to the streets today with one question...Why are the sidewalks in the Hill blocked off? This is a problem for all people, and especially children and disabled persons who are dependent on a wheelchair. The demand...put our sidewalks and or safe walk ways in NOW! With school opening, this is more important than ever. Our next community meeting is on September 15th at the Blakey Center. We'll be inviting City Officials to come and give us an update, but we will need resolution long before then. Our Centre Avenue corridor must be safe and clean--today, tomorrow, forever.

✨ Investing in Hill District storefronts!

We’re excited to share that several Hill District businesses and organizations have been selected as recipients of the 2026 Commercial Façade Grant Program!

Congratulations to:

✅Freedom Unlimited Inc.
✅Hill CDC Office Building
✅New Granada Theater
✅CommonXConnection
✅Sylvia’s Market and Deli
✅Big Tom’s Barbershop
✅Morgan Lee Arts Centre

Grant funding will support improvements such as lighting, signage, windows, doors, brickwork, painting, and sidewalk activation, helping strengthen storefronts and commercial corridors throughout the Hill District.

Earlier this month, Hill CDC brought together Centre Avenue businesses, residents, and neighbors for Operation Clean, working together to clean and beautify the Centre Avenue/Main Street corridor.

We wanted to take some time to express our sincere gratitude to all of our volunteers that made the historic New Granada Theater Ribbon Cutting Celebration & Marquee Lighting such an unforgettable success.

We appreciate the dedication, hands, and hearts of The Iota Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of Western Pennsylvania, Shields of Joy, and dedicated community members.
