Happy National Coffee Day! My work in Collage continues as I taught two Collage classes at Contemporary Craft (www.contemporarycraft.org) last week here in Pittsburgh, PA. I am interested in the contribution of women in collage art. In October I will be teaching a two session Women in Collage course at Butler County Community College (https://bc3.augusoft.net/index.cfm?method=ClassInfo.ClassInformation&int_class_id=41452&int_category_id=10&int_sub_category_id=4&int_catalog_id=0) There are some seats left. In the class we will not only look at the collage work of women both past and present. We will use their work as a jumping off point to create our own collages. Bring you paper ephemera, glue sticks and scissors. And, if course I will have lots of materials to offer. We’ll look at the craft of collage, composition and techniques.

Stacy Hortner's work which won First Place last year at Fiber Forward 2018. 3D using the technique of crochet.

The Fiber Forward exhibit in Pittsburgh, PA (part of the Knitting, Crocheting, and quilting creative arts show) was wonderful. My crochet wall sculpture, "Beginnings" won first prize in the 2-D category. Met so many great people. The fiber arts community in Pittsburgh is awesome.

www.fiberfowardpgh.com To apply. Of course, I can’t enter the Fiber Forward 2019 exhibition since I am the Chairperson but YOU still can.
By the way, Fiber Forward 2019 was featured on the Center for Knit and Crochet webpage http://centerforknitandcrochet.org/social-media and page. Many thanks to that group of artisans for their promotion.
As for me, I’ve been busy with incorporating my knitting and crocheting in my collage work. I’m working on a piece using the Tree of Life pattern. I will post my piece soon for your review.

Hey...Great News!! Submission Deadline for Fiber Forward 2019 has been extended! Online Submissions are now due Saturday, February 16 at midnight. You have extra time to get your work entered into the exhibit. Maybe you have created something already. Submit it!

I would like to bring to your attention the opportunity for you as knitters and crocheters to exhibit your work at a fiber exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA the weekend of March 15 – 17, 2019. Submissions are currently being reviewed for both wearable and artistic knit and crochet. This is a juried exhibition and the jurors are the headliners for the annual Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival. All the information you need for the fiber exhibition is on the Fiber Forward 2018 website including prospectus, submission form, contact info, etc. I have seen beautiful work on this FB page and I thought you should receive information on how you can exhibit your work. Oh, did I mention, there will be prizes.
